Alex Moss 2,165 Posted September 19, 2016 I will be out in Florida before long for several weeks visiting the missus, and was wondering what the coverage of the Championship is like on the box out there? My local bar out there kindly put on no less than EVERY single one of our games whilst I was out there in Jan/Feb but that was the Premier League and I''m guessing there won''t be that luxury afforded to the Championship? Any info is much appreciated, ta 👍
daly 501 Posted September 19, 2016 Lived in Sarasota for 10 years in the 90''s which was full of expats but saw no Championship football in the English PubsPerhaps things have changed
Alex Moss 2,165 Posted September 19, 2016 Well, you couldn''t write it, Daly - Bradenton is where I''m going! Small world, eh?! Good local Irish bar there, Clancy''s, they were loving Rep of Ireland during the Euro''s, whilst I alternated wearing a Hoolahan/Brady shirt!
Blurboy1980 36 Posted September 20, 2016 I live right over the Skyway Bridge in Saint Petersburg which is 30 mins away or so.... but as for Norwich being on Telly over here I believe so far they have only been shown once and that was for the Ipswich game. There is a network here called BeIN that shows championship football every Saturday but you have to subscribe to the channel.... also whilst you''re here check out the Tampa Bay Rowdies in Saint Pete they aren''t too bad they play in a baseball stadium outdoors overlooking the water and is always a good time they have the likes of Joe Cole and The Legend that never was Freddy Adu. Daryl Russel played for them last year and got to meet him.
Alex Moss 2,165 Posted September 20, 2016 Thanks Blurboy, it gets an even smaller world! I know St Pete and the Skyway Bridge, travel over it from Tampa Airport down to Anna Maria/Bradenton 👍. Looks like I''ll be there too late to catch a game with the Rowdies, who for the benefit of others on this forum, play in yellow and green and have had several ex Norwich players grace their Gulf Coast stadium over the years. Maybe catch up whilst I''m out there if we''re in luck with NCFC on BeIN, realise that''ll be like 9 or 10 in the morning though looking at the fixtures! Lessingham Canary 99 Posted September 20, 2016 Brilliant love it, we will have to arrange a meet, maybe a fishing trip next summer when I''m in Cape Coral, love the whole area except lack of proper football, This thread is making me miss Florida.
Alex Moss 2,165 Posted September 20, 2016 Now that sounds good G, I''m absolutely up for that - we can talk about it at Fulham!. My missus is from New Jersey, and yes her fathers Italian American so I tend to be on my best behaviour when he''s in town 😂, but she has lived down on the Gulf Coast for about 10 years now. I go out 3 times a year for nearly 4 weeks at a time so it feels like my second home now after going out there for the first time early last summer, I''m always impressed with the hospitality afforded to us ''Brits'' and they''re really helpful with putting the Norwich games on (at least locally where they have 15 odd screens in the local ''sports'' bar), that said I''m yet to experience a Championship season out there as you can tell by the post!. I''m also yet to go fishing out there buddy, I got chatting to 2 chaps fishing down near Sarasota from a little wooden pier for Hammerhead sharks (as you do 😂) and have been invited to join them so maybe this time I will give them a shout! (Caught 2 undulate rays and a tope last week off Swanage though bud!). Anyway, totally agreed, it''s fantastic out there, it always is a little shock to the system when you step off the plane and get hit with the sudden increase in heat and humidity! Got me reminiscing now as well mate 😂
daly 501 Posted September 20, 2016 LessinghamSpent a year with my job in Cape Coral lived on South East 29th Street, right on the canal.Mafia money suppose ably started Cape Coral to replicate Venice Italy . more miles of canals than anywhere in the worldFantastic fishing
Lessingham Canary 99 Posted September 20, 2016 Alex / DalyWe have been going over for the last 12 years, the last 6 years to Cape Coral, Daly you are spot on with your description of it, more canals and inland waterways than anywhere, and a real boaters paradise, we take a villa and a boat right on the shorefront where the river comes in from that Gulf, so you can do the famous "murder mile" (because of speed restrictions nothing else) and be in the big stuff in 20 minutes.Place is paradise where else can you sit be sitting at your BBQ and watch the dolphins and manatees swim within touching distance, Cape Coral is fantastic for all the family, where as some of the other area''s are full of wrinklies. daly 501 Posted September 20, 2016 Lessingham You should try an American Wrinkly nothing better.Go to the Quay in Sarasota they out number men by 6 to 1If you get frustrated by NCFC try it
Blurboy1980 36 Posted September 20, 2016 Florida is nice for the beaches and Orlando but living here isnt all its cracked up to be unless you''re older and have money. Its way to hot here and there honestly isn''t much to do besides go to the beach and theme parks....which every country has but who goes to Alton Towers daily I am 36 and enjoy doing the outdoors hiking, snow skiing, white water rafting etc and can''t do any of that here, Florida is flat as a cardboard box. I plan on moving out west (Colorado or Oregon) where you can breathe fresh air without melting and doesn''t rain daily in the summer and actual outdoor activities are plentiful. And as much as I do enjoy living here in the States...Health Insurance is a joke. I have to pay around 200 pounds a month ($300) to just be covered but if I have to have anything done surgery wise I have to cough up another $4000 to be even looked at. So NHS might have its problems but its a far better system...btw if you don''t have insurance you get fined at the end of the year on your taxes....and school loans for college oh boy. My sister who just became a doctor now has over $400,000 in loans she has to pay off.ok my Rant is over :) OTBC!!!!!!!!
Lessingham Canary 99 Posted September 20, 2016 Blurboy I''m sure you are right on that, the heat is great if out on the water or by the pool, but somedays too hot to get on a bike.On the NHS we need to make the most of it, as within 10 years we will be not dissimilar to the US, and will need health cover for most eventualities. Mind you never met a poor American doctor, if she ever want to come to the UK we could use her, but she will earn more over there.
Alex Moss 2,165 Posted September 20, 2016 Yeah, you''ve got to love the Dolphins and Manatees, G - the water around Anna Maria island is crystal clear in ideal months like May and when people told me it was like bath water, well, I couldn''t believe it till I experienced it - it''s amazing, isn''t it?! Blurboy - I love all the palmetto and places like Myakka, if you like wildlife like myself then I find its variety hard to beat - loads of reptiles, birds, bugs - it''s like Paradise to me! Looking forward to seeing the local gators again before long, fantastic creatures 👍. Totally take on board all your points about living there permanently - be nice to have a second home there though! Lessingham Canary 99 Posted September 20, 2016 DalyAmerican wrinkly on Sarasota Quay, is that the 80 year olds in their tennis gear driving their equally old Cadillac''s, think I saw them cruising one Friday night, around 6.30pm, just before supper.
Blurboy1980 36 Posted September 20, 2016 Florida is a great place for the winter months cause the weather is nice but the summer not so much. My mum who moved here started getting her British pension that she earned but the US Govt takes half of it since they consider it "Income" I plan on moving out to Colorado within 3 years and maybe heading to Arizona during the winter when I''m older. I will gladly take the dry heat over the humidity.
SeattleCanary 0 Posted September 20, 2016 While you''re here mate buy a slingtv subscription which is $10 for the month and login to bein sports app with said subscription. It''s how I''m wTching the game right now.
Alex Moss 2,165 Posted September 21, 2016 Nice one Seattle, much appreciated buddy - I will look into that 👍
SeattleCanary 0 Posted September 21, 2016 No worries. Correction, my subscription is to fubotv and then login to bein with that subscription but you can subscribe to which ever is cheaper, but I know fubo is $10. All the best mate!
daly 501 Posted September 22, 2016 BlueboySame problem with summers in Fl. changed clothes 3 to 4 times daily with the humidity, I moved to Tahoe/Reno area check it outReno reasonably cheap to live due to the casino money going into the state
Blurboy1980 36 Posted September 23, 2016 I went skiing at Tahoe...went to Heavenly and Northstar very nice places. I am thinking more Colorado or Northern Arizona I love the mountains and I love the desert. But I agree with you on the Florida heat. Its nice for a holiday but living in it daily is horrible. Its way to hot to enjoy the outdoors.
Lessingham Canary 99 Posted September 23, 2016 Couple of years ago drove from Santa Monica to Vegas, wow never witnessed anything like it, felt like the air con in the car was not working. Skiing in Colorado is something the family want to do, and must admit that appeals Blurboy, bet the yanks have it off to a tee.
