nat_canaries 0 Posted October 19, 2015 I think everyone is agreed that we do need to improve our defensive player but who do we think is out there who would improve the squad at a realistic price? Our supposed summer target Nkoulou from Marseille is out of contract in the summer so could be available cheap so to not lose him for nout. Being a Cameroon international along with Bassong means they should have a good understanding but he is only 5''11 which may be a problem in the Prem. And if Wisdom is seen not viable to replace whitts then maybe sending him back to enable us to bring in another prem loan. Callum chamber may be looking for first team football to try to get in the England squad for the euros but would most likely have other suitors. Trying to think of others but there does seem to be a lack of quality cb presently, highlighted by the fact that even man Utd could not find replacements for smalling and jones so maybe it will be a case of working on team shape and movement with the current bunch than getting replacements. TIL 1010 4,746 Posted October 19, 2015 I take it you know we cannot do anything until January ?
ZLF 274 Posted October 19, 2015 spend BJs transfer money on signing Vlaar on a lucrative fee for 9 months and intensive treatment?
Crafty Canary 495 Posted October 19, 2015 That''s unnecessarily sarcastic Tilly. Whilst we cannot bring in players before January unless they are free agents we can and certainly be considering potential targets and sounding out their agents. I cannot believe that the footbal board are not doing just that.
iron_stan 0 Posted October 19, 2015 sam byram, grant hanley, harry maguire, lee peltier, andrew robertson (although we more than enough left backs right now), michael dawson are realisticÉder Álvarez Balanta and mayke would be my preference but thats about as likely as delia doing the right thing and selling to some rich arabs/yanks/russiansmost likely will be some old has been on the cheap from a club in europe looking for a final payday, everyone will say ''hes quality'' and then realise within 20 minutes his legs have gone and hes useless
pete 319 Posted October 19, 2015 Options are limited as regards reinforcements. Overseas defenders are unlikely to be attracted to a club facing a relegation battle. Possibly aging Premier League stars coming to the end of their contract looking for last payday e.g. James Collins. Or unproven talent from the lower leagues Dunk from Brighton now unlikely. Whatever we do shall need to be prepared for another Championship tilt with a more reliable back four eliminating the silly mistakes.Toffolo needs to start against Everton in Lge cup to see if he can do a job. mrs miggins 0 Posted October 19, 2015 We (reportedly) were in talks with Koulibaly but apparently he didn''t want to come, most likely because he thought we''d get relegated. If we''re in a good position come January in the league, talks could restart perhaps.Harlee Dean would be my choice if we can''t get anyone that would take us to the next level, he''s a more solid CB than Martin but is also decent on the ball
