Forest really splashing the cash
hertfordyellow replied to cambridgeshire canary's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
What do you mean spend less? it's a one year contract not a five year contract, so no resale value and its a sizeable wage. He's a good player granted, but it would rip our squad apart knowing one player was on twice as much money as everyone else. Just because Tzolis wasn't an instant success at 19 doesn't mean he is rubbish or that his career here is done. -

He was dynamite at West Ham on loan. He is the missing piece that confirms they have more than enough to survive now. If they do then it’s money we’ll spent. -

Summer Transfer & Rumour Thread 2022

Steiperman and Vrancic were fan favourites but limited, even at this level. They had good seasons for one season. Cantwell and Dowell have much more consistent evidence of achievement at this level. Sinani had a good season in a good team last season. Rashica hasn't played at this level before so we don't know. We aren't even talking about Lees-Meleu, Tzolis who have all the attributes to be a success. TBH I don't give a s**t if Pukki scores 25 goals or not as long as the team score goals. It will be much healthier for goals to come from a host of sources rather than just two who could get injured at any time. We don't need to replace Buendia, we just need to replace his contributions, which can be across a number of players at different times in the season. -

We know Omobamidele is good enough, it's the injuries that are the problem. I suppose we could wait until January and see if big Andy can stay injury free. I'm relaxed with Tomkinson being 4th / 5th choice, especially with Byram in the squad. -

Steiperman hardly played last time round. Vrancic lost his place to Dowell. Cantwell played way more of a part in that Championship win than Vrancic and Steipermann put together. You have to got back to 2018/19 for both those players to have made a solid contribution. Dowell is a good player, Cantwell is a good player, Sinani is a good player, Rashica is a good player. Can we not give them a bit of a chance before concluding that Pukki won't be able to score goals this season. -
Squad strength and depth

I personally think it is healthier to have a generally better group of players than rely on 3-4 top players. In a parallel universe 2 of Buendia, Skipp, Pukki get bad injuries or long covid and we don't make the play offs last time round. If Rashica and Cantwell get injured then there are many more options. Love Farkeball but I think Smith will be a lot more adaptive in games and he has such a varied squad he can do that with ease. -

He’s had a good stint. Been good for his international career, his medal drawer and his bank account. Good luck to him. He’ll be 33 when he leaves. He was never going to play here that much longer. Might even get a bumper contract in America to see things out. -

Tbh, he says the commentator is ‘usually fair’ which doesn’t mean he thinks they are fair in this case. I agree with you on this one. -

He’ll definitely move on for free in my opinion. Let’s hope Idah has a good season. -

Maybe it’s a really bad translation but the point about playing him in a friendly and him getting tackled is so weird. I wouldn’t personally quote someone with such a pathetic point of view. He signed a contract, it’s such a warped but regular point made by journalists that if you have the audacity to hold a player to a contract you are oppressing him. The player expects his contract paid in full every month, why shouldn’t a club also expect it honoured? If you quote someone as an interesting insight, you are at least saying it’s a valid point of view, this quote is beyond ludicrous and thus reflects badly on him finding it news worthy. -

This is beyond ridiculous. First off, we played him in a friendly and we ‘let him’ get tackled. Such a weird understanding of football. Secondly, he is a prisoner? Most prisoners don’t freely sign a contract to be in prison and then get paid 40k a week to be in prison. Shame on Gary Gowers for even quoting this nonsense. -
Tzolis.. striker material?

Yes he means Tzolis, the thread Is specifically about him 😂. Sargent might be better in a three, as the link up man. I think Idah is better suited however. -

It depends how we are set up. Putting my football manager hat on, if we play 433 then he could operate as an inside forward and be the main goal threat with someone like Sargent in the middle as a foil and someone else on the other side doing something similar. As people have pointed out, Liverpool score most goals from Salah and Mane in a 433.
