1. Bloody hell......I have been accused many times on this board as being a pessimist, [I think, change that to know, that I am a realist ], but having read most of the posts about Hughes and his supposed lack of skill I must be an optimist Worthington signs a player he has publicly admitted he has been after for a long time and a section of the posters can''t wait to turn up stuff showing how crap he is....
2. Good heavens, following the signing of Colin, if we also sign Hughes and Marney I would have to say that the squad is beginning to look quite good All credit to Worthington if he pulls all the transfers off
3. Yes, Wiz, it is depressing Unless we strengthen the squad we could return to the bad old days of meandering around in mid table and not going anywhere. After a couple of seasons of that we will slide into financial trouble and it will be "Deja Vue". There are too many platitudes coming out of Carrow Road right now and not enough action is being taken.  It won''t be long before the, "Where did all the money go?", chants start. On the other hand, we may just sign a right back, a central defender, a wide right midfielder, a central midfielder and a left midfielder...(all of which we need)...but something tells me this won''t be the case
4. Oh woe is me I have been out of the country for 10 days, log in to see who we have signed in order to strengthen the squad and find that we have sold Jonsson Now I know that most posters say that Worthington knows what he is doing, and that the more realistic of us should get off his back, however it seems that "Good Business" is now a valid reason to reduce what is already a small squad. All will be well when Worthington signs the five or six new players that we clearly need but "Pulling Rabbits Out Of Hats" certainly springs to my mind. Still, he may be a conjurer, we will just have to wait and see
5. Fillet...wouldn''t disagree with your selection apart from the fact that Francis is unlikely to be here at the start of the season and therefore Jarrett will have to start.. However, the problem arises if Louis-Jean; Drury; Jonson; Safri; Jarrett or Brennan gets injured because we will then be in the cack as we have no cover. And therein lies the problem.
6. Of course I agree It is all very well being "prudent" and bringing people in for free but the whole makeup of the squad should also be crucial. Goalkeepers - 4 Right Back -1 no cover Centre Backs - perm 2 from 4 (Of questionable quality other then Shackell) Left Back - 1 + Charlton/Brennan Right Midfield - ? Johnsson not a wide midfielder, McVeigh on transfer list Centre Midfield - Safri and Jarrett. No cover (assuming Francis goes) Left Midfield - Brennan and McVeigh?? (Hucks is a STRIKER!!) Strikers - Strength in depth!! We need people in before the start of the season or we will have problems.
7. It''s not worth the money!  I have seen it and the colours clash with the famius "Yellow and Green"
8. Sorry Mr Rosario, the words of wisdom were all Worthington''s, not mine. Maybe he inspires you with confidence, but he doesn''t inspire me and never has done. Ho hum....
9. I agree with Zipper that he should have been given more of a chance as he had proven quality..I was over the moon when he signed for us. So why didn''t he get more of a chance? Must have been something to do with Mr............., nope, I musn''t say it otherwise I will be accused of "Worthy Bashing"
10. The following quote from NW appears in today''s EDP - “Bringing in another player in Thomas Helveg''s position is something we will be looking at,” he said. “It''s just happened, so we will have to sit down and go through our list and see what might be available" You mean it was a surprise to you, Nigel? Guess you had better start going through your list and see who is available.  It might have been better if you had done this several months ago when it was obvious to everyone on the planet that Helveg would not start with us this year
11. Ah, the "balance" of the squad just gets better and better
12. Stevenage...thank you for pointing out what I was aware of, in that I had stated..."YET"     In fact, I made that point twice in my post. However, I am not a Worthington fan for all the reasons posted over the last couple of seasons, and he continues to worry me when obvious deficiencies in the team are not corrected whilst he recruits players for one of two strong areas - attack (the other being goalies). I will never, never, understand why he signed TWO international goalkeepers last season when we were on a restricted budget - it didn''t make sense then and it doesn''t make sense now. What it smacked of was a couple of players available at reasonable money - deja vue with Thorne Of course there is still time to bring other players in. Presumably these will be the ones to keep the average age of the squad down after signing a 25 year old (good signing), a 29 year old (essential signing) and a 32 year old. Mmmm...Primus doesn''t fit into that model does he????
13. The truth is that whilst we are looking strong in certain areas, in other areas we are woefully weak.  Yet again, as last year, we have no "balance" in the team/squad and I guess that is what frustrates some of us posters who are seen as "negative". I see little point in signing a player because it is a "good business" deal when we have glaring problems in other areas of the squad that have not, as yet, been addressed, If we had suitable cover at right back, central defence, right midfield, central midfield, and dare I say it left midfield, ( Hucks is a striker not a midfield player), then signing Thorne could be seen as "good business". With FOUR goalkeepers we look OK in that area. When Helveg goes, which he will, we have only one recognised right back.  Everyone knows that the central defensive positions MUST be strengthened. Left back seems OK with Drury, Charlton and possibly Brennan. Right midfield? Jonsson (not a midfielder) and McVeigh who is on the transfer list! Central midfield - Jarrett and Safri, after Francis wends his way away from Carrow Road, - is not strong enough, especially as Safri is yellowcard/injury prone. Left midfield is Hucks, who is a striker, Brennan (who is clearly out of favour with Worthington) and McVeigh. Up front we are good with Ashton, McKenzie, Hucks, Henderson, Jarvis and now Thorne. To me, that is NOT a well balanced squad that can withstand the pressures of the number of games that have to be played in the Championship plus any Cup matches that we might have. It needs new signings before the season begins in the crucial areas of weakness. IPSO FACTO I don''t get that Worthington has done a good job with this season''s signings - yet.
14. I haven''t posted for ages because I wanted to see if I could stay positive about Worthington. Well, I can''t FFS - what do we need another striker for when we have Ashton, McKenzie, Huckerby, Henderson and Jarvis? I suppose it is a balance for the four goalkeepers in 5 a side kickabouts Where is the defensive cover that we so patently need along with cover for right/central and left midfield????? No doubt they will be here before kick-off????
15. Leave him alone, he knows what he is doing I "shaved" my head down to a sub number one three years ago and would never want it any other way now - its low maintenace and massively comfortable, good on yer Deano!!
16. Your points are well made Bernard, but as ever you will be slated for bringing them to the attention of the "rose coloured spectacle" brigade. Whilst Worthington deserves the praise and accolades for his successes he also desrves the questions and doubts over his failures.
17. Fame at last...I see "The Pink''Un" is now taking information from these boards I can only say that my information comes from the "inside" and I cannot reveal my source
18. I can confirm from reliable sources that City have accepted an offer of £250,000 - now it''s down to Matty to agree terms. This came hot form the horses mouth at 4.30 today (Wednesday)
19. We will get nothing for Edworthy and Crow to answer Silver Fox''s question, they are out of contract so no transfer fee. I think it is now fairly obvious that Greeno is on the move judging by his comments, if they have been reported correctly (obviously he doesn''s keep his mum in the picture ) At least Doomcaster has stated publicly that all transfer fees received will go straight to Worthington to spend elsewhere and there is no doubt that we need to sign a right back + cover; centreback (+ cover?); right midfield and central midfield (2?) - which I guess is the 6 or 7 that DD came up with
20. I think that YR was saying that it would be good to know why Crow has been released. Of course it''s only the coaching staff who saw Crow on a daily basis, but these were the staff who nurtured him through the Academy, who selected him for the various "Junior" sides where he scored goals for fun and who promoted him into the Premiership squad last season. I would suggest that if you were Crow you would have thought your career was coming along quite nicely...then boom So, all we are asking is just why was he released, and it could have been something as simple as Crow turned down an improved contract...at least we would know.
21. And there was me thinking that you could keep in touch via the Internet
22. Sanity is beginning to come to the fore...keep on posting in this mould YR and others will also see the light! ZLF and WN saw the light some time ago
23. The Greeno ought to tell his mum the truth, coz she told my son that he is definitely staying
24.
You should have listened a little longer to that wiser man FatMan. He probably would have told you that "Opinions cause arguments, ALL of the facts resolve them". This would then allow you to make y...
Well I am pleased that YC accepts that my opinion about Worthington have been constant Eventually other people will begin to see that there are many, many problems within the Club and the squad in those areas that are down to Worthington. He is responsible for the composition of the squad, tactics, coaching, selections, and he is responsible for the ultimate playing result - every manager in whatever walk of life ultimately gets the team that they deserve. This squad is Worthington''s squad and he is accountable for the results. Even if we get promoted again it doesn''t make Worthington a good manager if obvious problems still exist in the areas that I and other posters have expressed our concerns about. Just suppose we had had a different manager last season, or even a part of last season. Would that different manager have been able to improve the tactics and coaching? Would that different manager have been able to make team selections that owed more to ability than loyalty? Would that different manager have been able to prevent us leaking so many goals?Would that different manager been able to inspire the team to prevent just one more goal being scored against in 3 or 4 defining matches last season? Would that different manager have been able to inspire the team to score just one more goal in several defining matches last season? Would that different manager prevented the most abysmal performance of the season in the ONE game that our whole season depended on? Hypothetical I know.  But I happen to believe that if a different manager had created a "yes" to any of those questions then we would still be a Premiership side. The fact that Worthington failed in each of those areas reinforced the opinions that I have held about him for a considerable period of time running well into last season.
