1.
Ive been an outspoken pessimist regarding City grabbing a CB especially, but as its only Jan. 6th, City have permanently signed Jarvis and the imminent Pinto for around 5 mill, give or take a few 100k with bonuses etc. To me thats exceptional business for a January window. Add in the signing of young Diallang, one for the future we hope, and the outgoing of Elliott Bennett, and to be fair thats pretty good for the 6th of January. If by Feb 1st our CB stock remains Seb and Ryan B with Martin as back up, then it will be Deja Vu, but 3 and half weeks to go.
The point is that if signings are to be any use to us this year they not only have to be recruited but integrated into our squad/style of play and the implication was that business would be done ''early'' for this reason ie not at back end of January! So far (although I admit this might be media talk) all we hear is that those we approach do not fancy us and there appears little indication that we will be successful with our first choice targets. We must not lose sight that this window is very different to the Summer equivalent and the longer this drags on the more desperate Clubs get and finish up with second rate players.
2.
This (Jan) window seems to be taking the same course as last Summer.Put in a bid for:1) A player whose Club is ascertain that they want to release, so decision delayed and eventually does not happen.2) Bid for a player whose salary/ambition is way out of our league.Eventually run out of time, get nothing or panic buy!I thought that groundwork had been done, enquiries made and that we could expect some action early in the window?
......and still nothing despite all the pre planning/knowing who we were after. Surely we would have had discussions with Clubs before the window opened to test whether our targets were likely to be available and at what price. PLEASE do not let this drag on and on and on until the last day!

4.
Did you enjoy the Villa win OP?
Please do not read much into the ''Villa win''. They looked the worst Premiership side I''ve seen in years but still could have embarrassed us in the first half hour! If the signings do not come we will be up against it!
5. Much comment has been made on various sites regarding the ''ungainly'' nature of Alex Tettey''s finish at Old Trafford. Personally I could not give a fig if he put it in with his arse as long as it went in. How fussy we have become!
6. I saw Vaughan, Jackson & Morisson in the Championship and believe me none of them, could hold a candle to the way Martin has played in the last three seasons!Class act and if he maintains his current application he could do well at a higher level.Looks a much better player than Jerome who himself has performed reasonably in the PL.
7. lappinitup..........Yes! He was never given a chance while Holty was there. Martin is looking much more of a complete target man with his goals + layoffs......even if he does miss the odd penalty!!!!
8. Saddens me to say it but Chris Martin looks a class apart again today from our supposed target Afobe. What a wicked waste!!
9.
RVW is simply a good player who has lost his way.  It happens to all sorts of players and the ones that can find their form and confidence again - like Chris Martin - are ones to be admired.   Wherever he goes though, RVW will be a bit part player until he can get a run of games in a side where he can re-kindle his goal scoring form.  Real Betis already had good in form strikers and he has to fight his way through that, so on a career level, he may have been better going to a League 1 or equivalent side to find his feet.  He will be one to watch with interest.
Do me a favour this guy has, and never will have an ounce of ability. For some unaccountable reason several City supporters seem to be cutting this individual too much slack whilst castigating others after they have one bad game!I have heard every excuse in the book....just accept it, he ain''t no good!
10. See that Ricky has played one game since joining Real BetisStatsOne Shot/No Goals/No AssistsSome things in life never change!!!
11.
Re: The above. Everton sold us a goalkeeper who was eventually to represent England, John Ruddy, on the cheap.
Reasonable keeper but don''t think you will see much of him wearing the three lions....much too inconsistent and his seasons are always littered with instances where he concedes goals that he should have saved for example Sunderland''s goal on Sat that bounced twice before crossing the line!
12. Just seems that we have a perennial habit of releasing players at vastly below there market value to accommodate others and WORSE STILL then expecting other clubs to be equally foolish. Then when to our surprise they don''t we finish up losing out!Hardly squares with our much touted prudency ethic!
13. Incredible that we continue to negotiate what seems like forever to sign these players as cheaply as possible before the deals eventually fall through, maybe everybody eventually lose the will to live let alone negotiate!Perhaps it''s because of our nervousness after RVW experience also things a little tight after:Giving away;Martin....bids (£7m) now being turned downButterfield....Derby bid of £5m rejected by HuddersfieldSurman....Looked a class act for Bournemouth on Monday night against Liverpool & must be worth millionsWho is it/was it at our Club that cannot spot talent if it stares them in the face?
14. No Ricky again yesterday then? When he first arrived and we were excited about the prospect of this ''top'' striker from the continent firing them in for us I remember him saying "Not everybody loves me!"How right he was. Only the hopeless scout that would have been more suited to stacking shelves in Aldi!
15. As I suspected/feared mighty Brentford cutting our ''defence'' to ribbons.Alex Neil better continue his good fortune!
16.
perhaps WBA are prepared to pay over the odds for a player. perhaps we are not prepared to pay over the odds.
Think you have to make the decision in the Premiership, do you meet the players value and get on with it or do you try to scavenge from a relegated Club and fall behind with your preparation and perhaps miss out on recruiting sufficient quality to build a squad capable of competing. Our squad remains only a reasonably competitive Championship outfit. Although I accept that some key players were missing last night those on duty were painfully exposed the minute West Ham played their big guns. We are well short of having the quality to stand any chance in the Premiership.
17. "West Bromwich Albion have signed Hull City defender James Chester for a fee of £8m. The 26-year-old has signed a four-year deal at The Hawthorns" That''s the way to do it, no messing around. What was it 3 days or so? We''ve been messing around for a couple of months and still the deal not concluded.
18. Men against boys since WHam bought their bigboys on. Going to be a long season! RVW same old same old!
19. “Vadis just felt something with a tight thigh............."Is this guy another Vaughan ie play one miss ten!
20. We now have Graham Dorrans being sent out to assure us that our free (and only) signing (Mulumbu) is the ''real deal''.This situation is getting scarily close to that which existed before Paul Lambert jumped ship. Please do not let that happen again!
21. History tells me TCC that many players look the part in the Championship but the step up to Premier League is just that bit too far.........I suspect Cameron Jerome is a prime example!
22. Things have moved on big time since then TCCANARY. We now have to compete week after week against some of the worlds best and against clubs that can fill their benches with International players!
23.

We have a fantastic opportunity/young manager that can take this Club to the level we all desire. Needs though to be backed by a realistic spend (obscene that it may be even at the lower levels) and perhaps avoiding players that other more experienced Managers deem not up to the task.
Ian Crook, Mark Bowen, Andy Townsend & Martin Peters all players that fit that description.   Things have moved on big time since then TCCANARY. We now have to compete week after week against some of the worlds best and against clubs that can fill their benches with International players!
