1. Update. Now, where are we in the war Worthy? 7 of the 8 battles left now, & the war is still there to be won. The last 6 fixtures are winnable by City if you are brave - although 5 of the 6 will do fine. Passion you''ve called for. Good. A few yellow cards for letting the opposition know that we''re around will do the world of good (listen to Charlton. He''s not a dirty player, but he knows where it''s at). Helveg you''ve recalled. Good. Did you see him exude class and stride the field with confidence when he came on against Arsenal.  Saffri you''ve recalled. Good. Did you see him snapping like a terrier at Henry & frustrating him when he came on against Arsenal. Now we also need Doherty/Charlton to come on for Fleming and Bentley for Stuart at the 60 min. mark  against Man Utd. (that is, if you can''t bring yourself to put them on for the start). That will help warm them up and motivate them for the last 6 battles. Yes, I heard several clear choruses of OTBC during the TV coverage of the Arsenal match. Now remember to get Delia to get out those OTBC ''hymn sheets'' so that we can practice during the Man Utd match. Then we''ll be ready for the big 6. Oh yes, I saw Hucks on the right a couple of times. Good. Let him roam a bit more though. Green looking more confident & commanding the past couple of matches. Good. Shackell. Was he told to shut up and mind his place for the Arsenal match? If so, by who. Wrong move. Not good. Let the lad free - he''s a born leader and organiser. Now remember be brave. Announce you strategy to the fans. And together we can make it all right. OTBC. Never mind the danger. Steady on. Now''s your chance. Oh, why are you so slow to learn Worthy. But we can talk about that later. Now, let''s go,go,go!!!! Finish the season with all guns blazing - and you might just be pleased at the outcome. Let''s go! OTBC.
2. It''s all part of Worthy''s master stategy. Having secretly accepted at Xmas that we would get relegated, he started forward planning for next season. He figured that Edworthy, Holt and Fleming could do a job for us next year in the Championship. Particularly since he doesn''t trust or know how to work with our exotic imports, Then he figured that in order to keep our happy trio of honest joes happy and on board with the gaffer, he would have to play them for the rest of this season. Eureka! The Grand Strategy revealed at last. Eddy, Flem and Holty will lead our Championship campaign next year. QED. OTBC.
3. Damo, Kent, Beds, Nickerson & Holloway. You make me very sad. Why? You all have such low expectations.                                                                                                                                                     With inferiority complexes like yours we have no hope. You all sound like grateful angles. Many of us, myself included, expect better of City!  Much, much better!! I suppose you all paraded around with this season wearing scarves saying "We are Premier League"! I have been proud of City under Macaulay, Saunders, Bond, Stringer and Walker. A proud tradition. That is what I want rekindled. And I make no apologies for saying so. You want a ''positive'': (a) so few yellow cards and (b) Worthington has just found out that the team lacks passion - with 7 matches out of 38 left.                                      He may well get us up again in the next year or two (although I wouldn''t bet much on it). But he won''t be able to keep us up- just like Megson with West Brom. He learns too slow, and he doesn''t seem to be able to work with foreigners. Blind support of Delia and irrational hero worship of Worthington are just what City do not need right now. Everything needs to be honestly examined in the hot crucible of the public eye. So the right lessons can be learned from this embarrasing Premier League failure. OTBC.
4. So *If you like prawn sandwiches you can''t be a real supporter. *You can only be a real supporter if you are ''grass roots''. *If you are a casual supporter you can''t be a real supporter. *Since Delia likes coq au vin and strawberry coulis she can''t be a real supporter *Only season ticket holders are real supporters *If you have to work on Saturdays you can''t be a real supporter. *If you are a member without a season ticket you must be a fair weather supporter. I see. Actually you know, you can only be a real supporter if *You have a hugely discounted season ticket in the Barclay lower/upper tier, stand all match and block the people sitting behind you, dislike good food, give uncritical support to the coaching staff & Delia, go to every away match, sing the first two lines of OTBC because you don''t know the rest, hate Ipswich, and buy your prawn sandwiches at Asda on the way home. Give me a break! One love. OTBC
5. David-T I see that you have been sent to Coventry (''university'' no less!). Maybe that explains your reluctance to respond to the logic of my subsequent posts on this thread? Although as an ''academic'' you should never avoid a good intellectual joust. Or is it that you have your tail between you legs after Yankee''s gentle scoldings?  You say on another thread originated by you that you are ''exiled in the pit that is the midlands''. You need to relax a bit friend. It is better to look for the good in people/places rather than the worst - you''ll feel much better. But keep up your passion for City, that is the tie that binds for life regardless of differences. One love. OTBC.
6. I wonder if Mike Phelan''s not getting tired of ManUtd , and if Mark Bowen might soon get fed up of Sparky. Now, I think that would be a combination with real possibilities. OTBC
7. Posters all. Thanks for your support. If we go out with all guns blazing for the rest of the season we just might surprise ourselves. The coaching staff and players need to get angry about being condescended to by all and sundry. Then harness this anger into a fierce determination to show them what it was that made us runaway champions last year. Jarvis gone to Colchester until end of season & Crow staying at Northampton until late April, need not destroy our strategy! Svensonn & Henderson on the bench will do instead. Maybe we need to recruit Duncan Forbes to our cause to impress on our Mr. Worthington what real bravery & passion are?  One more wimpish set of post-match comments, analysis & excuses and I shall be fit to tied. Worthy. The ghosts of Norwich past are watching, and are not well pleased. OTBC. Never mind the danger. Steady on. Now''s your chance.
8. This is a contingency strategy in case Worthy ignores my plan to win the 8 battles left and hence the war. In the Chumpionship we''ll need a Dean Windass type to bomb around midfield, mix it up and score a few goals - as Martin O''Neill well knows. Now we can afford to buy him, I wonder if old Windass is still up it? Maybe he has a good season left in the tank? Then, if Worthy gets us up to the Prem again and can''t hack it next time either, we could get Delia to target O"Neill as he''d probably be finally tired of Celtic by that time! Then, we could welcome back the prodigal for the third time and complete a virtuous circle. Ah well, there''s no harm in dreaming even with tongue in cheek!! OTBC
9. Come on. Let''s be having you! Don''t be shy! I had a chat with Thomas Helveg in a dream, but it''s embargoed until tomorrow. So in the meantime let''s hear from you first! OTBC.
10.
Wenger
But Delia says ''Worthy is the new Arsene Wenger'' - interview in The Guardian a few months ago.So......... OTBC.
11.
Who would replace Worthy? Ideally someone who knows how to win that league. Oh wait...
Peter Real problem is we need somebody who can keep us up after we have won that league again. Now, I wonder.....? OTBC
12. Why would a manager not drop players who underperform week after week? If the manager has not been organising the team properly, why not? Presumably he thinks that these underperforming players have been performing, and that he has been organising the team well. So why would he take you advice? This is just a logical analysis of the central theme of this thread, not a get Worthy post. But somebody needs to shake him out of his comfort zone - for all our sakes. OTBC.
13. I wonder if he''ll make the field against England on Saturday? If he does, he''ll probably score one of those goals he owes us! OTBC.
14. There are 8 battles left to win the war. Be brave, Worthy. Gamble to win. Like this. Charlton for Fleming. Helveg for Edworthy. Bentley for Stuart. Saffri for Holt. Jarvis, Crow, Jonson, Doherty on the bench. (The others have had more than their chance) Oh, and let Hucks free from the left wing sometimes - or have him interchange with Bentley during matches. Another thing, allow Shackell to marshall the defence. (If you were a master strategist you would make him captain for the last 8 as well - but I''ll forgive you if you pass up this one) Last thing, make sure Green comes for crosses and commands his area like against Bolton - in every match. I prefer as well when he looks determined rather than somewhat wistful (- the eyes are the window to the soul!)  Get Delia to print out "Hymn Sheets" with ON THE BALL CITY to be distributed at the turnstiles at every home match and with tickets for away matches. Announce your strategy to win the war to the fans. If we really get together, it can still be alright. But you have to be brave Worthy. OTBC. Never mind the danger. Steady on. Now''s your chance. P.S. There''s little of substance achieved without first dreaming a dream, and then executing it bravely. Business as usual won''t work.
15. Should we bring in players to get us out of the Championship but are not really of prem quality (more of the Holt, Fleming, Edworthy, Mulryne, McVeigh, MacKay types)? Or players who are of Prem quality (or potentially so) but not ideally suited to the rather different rigours of the Championship? I think that this will be a very difficult balancing act. But, the over-riding goal must be to get out of the Fizzy at the first attempt by hook or by crook (but not bankruptcy!) - and then take it from there having hopefully learnt the harsh lessons of this season. I mean the lessons of irrational loyality. What a conumdrum! Riddle me this, riddle me that!! It''s seems to be a darn sight easier to stay up this season. Come on City, let''s go!! OTBC.
16. Hell, MPR. What on earth does Delia drink?! My guess - the percentage of fans who stand in the Barclay when Fleming clears to a colleague. OTBC.
17. "In free fall just like 1995." Discuss class!! Dumble: "The only thing vaguely similar to 1995 is the run of results we''re in". David-T: "....the only common fact is that we''re losing". Ermmm, yes.  Now, let''s see. (a) In 1994-95 we had been in the top tier for 21 of the previous 23 years, and had had a succession of managers who understood how to operate at that level including Saunders, Bond, Stringer and Walker. At Xmas we were 7th and by May relegated. The Board brought back Martin O''Neill as manager (Yes, the same former Norwich icon who is coveted by almost every top club in the land). In November, 1995, we were set for immediate promotion back to the Prem. Chase very stupidly would not find O''Neill 50,000 pounds to bring in Dean Windass. O''Neill left. This decision by Chase was the worst in the history of NCFC. Can you imagine the Canaries back in the Prem with O''Neill in charge and the finances essentially rectified by regained Prem membership. The story of the last 10 years would have been radically different Quite frankly, I prefer our 1995 situation to our 2005 situation. This season, it''s not just the disastrous results -  it''s the nature of our performances that worries me more. (b) You see I am not satisfied with our current situation. I expect better - because I take a long term view rather than a short term view. (c) In my opinion our 1995 situation was considerably better than our 2005 situation. But, I would agree that our 2005 situation is considerably better than our 1997 position!!!!!! (c) David-T. so you think that BlyBly is an old she? OTBC.
18. Kid. I agree with most of what you say. However, the comparison that I was making was between the post-Xmas results in 1995 and 2005. Overall, we did better in 1994-95 than we are going to finish up with this time. The comprehensive nature of our capitulation this time begs comparison. I suppose that having experienced the 47 years from 1958, I have higher expectations. For this, I will not apologise. Yes, the club is in pretty good shape - finances, board, facilities etc. But, I don''t have blind faith in the coaching staff, I''m afraid. Call that doom and gloom or realism? OTBC
19.
But anyone can shoot from outside the box, depends how you define chances doesn''t it? IMO we definatley had the "better" chances, if Deano had opted for a simple pass rather than the fancy backheel w...
Anyone can shoot from inside the box too, come to that! Our problem is getting it near enough to shoot from anywhere. The salient point is that goals are basically derived from shots on target. Bolton had 9 on target, we had 1. Therefore, Bolton came closer to scoring than us by 9:1 To say that we had four chances whilst they had one half chance from which they scored is not only living in fantasy world, it is to put it mildly disingenuous and self-serving by Worthy. OTBC.
20.
I think Newmans at Cambridge now, with Iwan isn''t he?
Weston. Did a quick check. Seems Rob Newman is Assistant Manager at Cambridge United, whilst still turning out for Gorleston when he has time to help in their fight against relegation. In fact he got sent off playing for the Greens in February. Interesting. OTBC
21. Nice chap. Good to see him doing well. As Jim of ''Harry & Jim'' said - he just needed a little loving. That why he did well for us. We took him in and made him feel welcome and appreciated. OTBC
22.
Ok firstly I dont think Worthington was talking about shots on goal, which believe it or not does not mean chances! It just means how many shots were attempted. So I think in the sense of clear cut c...
Shots on target are not chances? Goals are shots on target which evade the goalkeeper! (Worthy said Bolton had ''one half chance from which they scored.'' - made by a championsip class clearance from his favourite right back. That Stellios - oh he was so brutal.) So Candela''s shot which hit the bar was not a chance, nor Hierro''s shot from which Green made a stunning save? Just those horrible premiership chaps being so brutal and ruthless? Stop insulting us Worthy. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Get going! OTBC.
23. Newman? Rob Newman of Gorleston? My, my the Greens have moved up in the world since the days of The Rec! OTBC.
