Our squad full of internationals..

Recommended Posts

As it''s the international break and there''s not much doing.

If we could pit today''s squad against the team that finished 3rd in the Prem, who do you think would come out on top and why?

Default position would be that the team of 93 would win but there''s been such a shift since then that even in the second tier we have all these internationals. Is our squad now actually better than the one that achieved our highest ever finish?

todays team

most of the ''93 squad must be in the mid forties or even fifties by now and would struggle to keep up

Ironically Neil Adams would have been Mike Walker''s final signing during his first spell had the deal gone through a little bit earlier, but todays team would be played off the park by the 93 team. Norwich in 93 had good players and played as a team, the whole team played instinctively instead of showing the hesitancy you see today. The sort of possession Norwich get at home against teams which come and park the bus would incline some plastics to draw comparisons between Adams and Walker. But there''s no contest between a team lead by a tactical master and drilled to play football, and another led by a tactically naive radio commentator which relies on outmuscling the opposition. Walker would never have waved the white flag against Chelsea to seal relegation in the way that Adams did.Delia sacked Walker in favour of the footballing delights of Bruce Rioch and Bryan Hamilton and we went backwards for the next 10 years. Under our beloved celebrity chef and her henpecked media luvvie husband we have never got back to the same footballing standard that we had under Stringer and Walker. Todays team is nowhere near that of 93.
