canarycol 0 Posted February 4, 2014 Responsible department: Department for Culture, Media and SportFootball is our national game but the interests of fans are being disregarded by club owners and ruling bodies - government action is needed. UK football clubs are not financial franchises: they are rooted in their local communities and are an important part of local identity and heritage. But a new type of club owner is disregarding all that, pricing many people out of the game with inflated ticket and other costs, alienating people by seeking to change clubs’ names, colours and so on. Football''s governing bodies are failing to address the situation. We therefore ask that the Department for Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee revisits its work on football governance and illustrates growing problems by undertaking a short Inquiry into one particular club, Coventry City, whose owner has relocated the club from the City of Coventry to Northampton, 35 miles away. This will highlight concerns shared by football fans across the country, and the need for action.See what is happening at Cardiff and Hull as well https://submissions.epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/59884

splutcho 196 Posted February 4, 2014 In theory yes, however the only way this message would get across would be for all fans to vote with their feet, which will never happen.

Having to travel to somewhere like Peterborough for a home game Please don''t say that will never happen to us Im sure that teams like coventry said that would never happen but because of what is happening in the English game now where supporters are taken for granted who knows what the future has in store

They are now based in a new city (no historical support father to son etc) with a good sized stadium which only get gates of approx. 3000. Just shows what can happen to a relatively successful cup winning team if it''s managed poorly by it''s owners.

canarycol 0 Posted February 4, 2014 However if you take a look at the plight of Coventry City where there is History you see how the modern day owners think of nothing but their bank balance its just business for them sure they can put a scarf around their neck and make all the right sounds today but if a better deal came along they would put on a different colour and make all the same sounds
