The next 2 games.....

Recommended Posts

Just thought I would share my thoughts about how both of the next 2 games will have an impact on our league position:

1st game, against "The Obsessive One''s" Villa team - if we don''t put that game to bed:

1) it could provide Villa a platform to kick off in the league

2) it could provide positive encouragement to other teams who are about to play us (the 3 W''s)

3) it could put a spanner into the team''s confidence - as well as a psychological victory for "The Obsessive One"

2nd game against Roberto Martinez''s Wigan - see above for the clues!

As much as I like Martinez (he seems such a gent, along with CH and Michael Laudrup) this is one match that we don''t want him to win - we need to increase the gap between us and the 6-8 teams at the bottom.

The cup game is very much a one off IMO and will in large part depend upon how strong a side each manager decides to put out. Whilst our league position is much better i think it is a game neither manager will want to lose for various reasons so i expect 2 reasonably strong sides. Ironic if Bents decides to fire in this one!

Wigan on paper is one of our easier fixtures but underestimate them at your peril, on their day they have shown they can beat anyone anywhere. A win would be nice but a draw would not be a disaster for either side and i expect this could be the result

Remember last season lots of fans expecting Fulham and Wigan to be easy pickings at home, draw wouldn''t be a surprise to me either

Obsessed with himself

Is ''conceited'' a Barclay/Snake Pit word or can someone come up with something more prosaic?
