Hoolahan and Trapattoni

Recommended Posts

I heard Trapattoni was at the game today. Is it really true? I have heard that he never attends any matches. Picked a good one if it is true. If Hoolahan doesn''t get a call up after this, we should send the mafia after him.

He was there, I saw him. And he wasn''t happy after Hoolahan got booked (not sure if he wasn''t happy with Ref, or with Hoolahan)

Surely he wasn''t there to see Wes, must of been Pilks. It wasn''t too long ago that he said Wes wouldn''t be picked because of the system Eire play. Surely he isn''t going to change his whole strategy (at the age of 73?) and build a side around one player?

Fair point.  I think Hughton has struggled to know what to do with Wes, and Lambert struggled at times.  He''s one of those players.  Yesterday up front with Holt plays to his strengths, as it maximises his attacking threat while minimising the impact when he does inevitably give the ball away on occasion.West Brom manage to get Odemwingie and Long playing together, and Wes could easily take the Odemwingie "run at players with the ball" role.

Agreed. I said in another thread, that I thought the system was superb yesterday, and worked a treat. Now, was that because of how Arsenal play, and will it be any different next week against Villa? Horses for courses, or a winning formula?
It was more of a case of we know how to get the best out of Wes and Trappatoni hasn''t got a clue what to do with him.
He''s a bit of an enigmatic little b-gger and there will be games this season that will not be suited to him.

As has been said, Hughton took a few games to realise how to use him. When he wasn''t brought on from the bench during the West Ham (I think it was) game, I thought that we might have seen the last of the little man in the yellow. Everybody (including me) was screaming out for his introduction, but the Hoots remained impervious.
