Old Shuck 291 Posted September 29, 2012 Yes, we were in for him when he left West Ham and when he left Fulham-it came out after the time and, as I recall, both Bondy and Bobby Moore referred to it. Moore wanted to stay in London hence the move to Fulham rather than us when he was due to leave West Ham in early 74 but it didn''t stop him going back in for Moore when he left Fulham. A side that might, feasiubly, have contained Bobby Moore AND Martin Peters would have been something-Bondy also made a bid for Alan Ball at one point. Still, one out of the three wasn''t so bad! Dave 0 Posted September 29, 2012 Those were the good days when we could sign big names towards the end of their career and they could still make an impact.Sadky these days they can get excessive wages abroad that we simply can''t afford
Mister Chops 7 Posted September 29, 2012 Yesterday''s Evening Standard had a Sam Allardyce column and "big Sam" said he nearly signed for us when John Bond was manager but they couldn''t agree terms, or something like that. I didn''t know Allardyce used to play football, but I''ll guess he was a centre forward who thrived on the long ball down the middle...

The football team shared facilities with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Allardyce applied many practices of American football (gridiron) towards soccer (with regards to training, player management and tactics). These innovative ideas helped him progress in football management"
