jed exodous 0 Posted July 3, 2012 At the risk of the ''oh not another Lambert thread''... Not really, but he''s about all we''ve got left who he could realistically sign after the extensions to Holt, Martin, Ruddy and Surmans contracts amongst others. I said when PL left that I felt it was highly unlikely he''d take anymore than 1 player from us, and he hasn''t done that. I think if he did come back in for anyone, we''d be able to replace, if not improve on the player that left. Great day to be a Canary. Whilst I was not happy with Holt''s antics, and I would''ve been prepared to sell him if the offer had been right (£6mil+), i''m very happy he''s staying, however, I can''t help but feel he owes us a few special perfomances next season, so we can go back to enjoying him as the living legend he is. I just wish he could''ve been a little more patient and waited his turn. Also, excellent news on Butterfield and Whittaker, the first of 5 or 6 I hope. Another striker, a winger and a full back each side, and we''re in good shape. Full credit to the board, who have taken their fair share of stick over the years. They stood their ground, rejected some below par bids which could''ve easily been accepted in previous years, and have now tied the clubs biggest assetts to long term deals, hopefully ensuring stability for years to come... Bury Yellow 2 Posted July 3, 2012 Just three points Jed. I appreciate the heading is bit tongue in cheek but Lambo in for C Martin = No way... of course.Holt going for 6 million would not have been good business. As others have said, we would have had to replace him and that could have been difficult. He''s worth the new contract for his leadership skills on and off the pitch and to help stability and continuity with the rest of the squad, particularly the younger players. Finally there has been no stick whatsoever given to the board at any stage since the revolution under the leadership of Mr Bowkett as Chairman and Mr McNally as Chief Executive. No coincidence either. As you say a great day to be a yella and the first since the season ended frankly.
Yelloow Since 72 56 Posted July 3, 2012 Nothing personal to you Jed, but I''m a bit amazed at this notion that City still need another RB now that Whittaker is on board. With Martin and Francomb available as well, surely the priorities are LB and elsewhere. I can''t remember a City squad as deep as this one already, with two players at every position and younger players backing them up. With one slot left in the 25, the emphasis needs to be on quality rather than quantity.

Regards to the points in the 2nd post, yes it was tongue in cheek, £6mil up front for Holt would''ve been excellent business and, if you look closely there are a few people who bashed the board, even through the revolution, but remember Delia and MWJ were absolutly lynched 4 or 5 years ago during the Roeder/Grant era, just goes to show they are thoroughly committed to the cause, and they deserve a bit of praise when things go right...
