blacko 0 Posted January 24, 2005 According to Sky sports other clubs have noticed him because, although he has let in the third highest number of goals in the Premier league, he has saved 100 times. This is nearly 50% higher that the next goalkeeper. Sadly these type of stats are bound to bring him even more to the attention of other managers. Our management need to look at the stats and think about why he has needed to save and concede so many. Not rocket science, the defence needs sorting!

I think that if we do go down then Greeno will probably go. I''m just worried about the other players we could lose. i think the players who are most likely to leave if we go down are:Greeno- very likelyFrancis- likelyHelveg- likely ( back to denmark??? )Svensson- very likely judging by recent links and rumors ( back to sweden )Jonson- ????Losing any of these players will be a blow but if we can hold on to the majority of them it would be fantastic for our chances next year. shropshire canary 0 Posted January 24, 2005 I have to say that IF the season were to end in the disappointment of relegation, keeping Ashton will be the key - a combination of Hucks, Ashton and McKenzie would score lots of goals in the Fizzy League. Even our defence might cope at that level as well!!
chicken 0 Posted January 24, 2005 I am not convinced that Francis will leave if we go down. Worthy is not going to let players go easily and has made that very clear, perhaps the reason why we have had no official bids for Green yet. That doesnt mean there havent been inquiries.I think Francis will give it another season with us as he is contracted for another three (I think thats right as he signed a contract extension). That means we will have no problem holding on to him for another season in those terms. I also think he realises that he owes us one, lets face it now one else was going in for him when we "rescued" him from Wimbledon, or Milton Keynes! He would be playing League 1 football otherwise. No, I think the atmosphere at the club extends to being more than just good team spirit. Worthington has obviously explained to all of the players, his plan for the future and by signing they are committing to it.Helveg may well go, but I cant see many "top" teams wanting him now considering the length of time it has taken him to settle in. Svensson may go but then I could never understand why we signed him anyway, while we still had Iwan anyway. He is a good player and it is a shame if it is true that he wants to leave.Jonson again has a point to prove. I think Green is the only player that is likely to leave considering the amount of speculation and the fact that the only teams that need a new keeper now are Man U, Arsenal and possibly Chelsea should Cudiccini go. The first two already being linked with him more than once.
Brum Uni Canary 0 Posted January 24, 2005
I have to say that IF the season were to end in the disappointment of relegation, keeping Ashton will be the key - a combination of Hucks, Ashton and McKenzie would score lots of goals in the Fizzy Le...
I was talking about this with someone last night - if we kept Hux, Ashton and Leon up front, we would have a potent strike force, and only have to bring in 1 or 2 players to cover midfield and defence. No worries about a keeper since there are 2 reasonable ones on the bench. I would like to see Shackell given a starting place as well.I reckon that we would bounce straight back up because the quality of that league isn''t the greatest this season (we would probably win it again!), so I would like to see the board commit some parachute money to adding a second tier to the City stand. Football is business and there will always be supporters, even if we could only fill 85/90% of the capacity. Even with the Jarrold and the infill, the stadium is bursting at the seams now, so in two years time the demand could be greater than ever.
