Noseybonk 0 Posted December 29, 2009
This sort of retrospective should give caution to those who write off City players without taking a broader perspective. The same could be done with Gary Doherty earlier in the season, and how that has changed.I have always thought that Hoolahan was a gifted player, though limited by his one-footedness. The early difficulty was his weakness defending when playing on the left wing. Lambert solved that with the diamond (as did Gunn with the 4-3-3 to a lesser extent) and the rest is history, but things can change. Lambert''s plan B would seem to be McNamee in a 4-4-2 or a 4-3-3, but we haven''t really seen enough yet to judge that.
Why is it never mentioned when a right footed player is ''one footed'' yet when a leftie cannot use his right it is seen as worthy of comment?Never understood that. InLambertWeTrust! 0 Posted December 29, 2009
Paul Mcveight was far more effective just putting a ball into the box than Hoolahan running about.
LOL. Well if you cant laugh at yourself [:D]

Gingerpele 0 Posted January 3, 2012 Its probably because he loses the ball a bit, thats just what yuo get with crative players. Look at Arsenal, Gervinho and Wallcott just lose the ball/shoot wide/play poor passes so often, but its just their pace and dribbling skills gets them into good positions so often, its still worth playing them. Hoolahan, while a completley different player, is a bit like that. He may not always do everything right, but when he does, he completley crontrolls the game and creates oppourtunities. Mister Chops 7 Posted January 3, 2012 Never has a player more fitted the cliche "the luck of the Irish." He''s a lightweight one footed fancy pants show pony punching above his weight, batting above his average and getting away with it because it appears that over the summer he''s gone to the Lee Croft "run around a lot with no end product" finishing school. You wait until he gets picked for Ireland and has to play against Messi or Xavi and then you''ll see, um, something or another.Nice hair though.I still think the Doc could keep Barnett out of the side.
