Crook & Gunn - what is going on?

CROOK: “We won''t know our transfer budget for a while and there''s a few players in the mix, but all options are open,” Crook told the Daily Telegraph in Sydney.

GUNN: But he said he had a clear idea of his budget as he tries to rebuild for the League One campaign.
“I know what I am working with. I have been speaking to the directors and will continue to work very closely with them,” he said.

There was an article last week that was just about Crook saying about the budget i think, that was just a quote from that in there

I posted the actual article from the Sydney Telegraph,  the article was dated 3rd June.  It said Crook had lunch with Bossie during the week, which meant it could have gone back to the end of May.  So therefore Crook was referring to the facts BEFORE he went on holiday.Mysteriously my post was deleted,  guessing the reason was it pissed over Archant''s article

Isn''t it pretty obvious that Gunn and Crook will not know the full extent of their budget until after the rebate deadline, when they''ll know how much the season ticket holders and Michael Foulger are putting in. Why they didn''t set the deadline earlier and let Gunn get on with buying players as soon as possible, I don''t know.
