Why not try and sign Lita?

Recommended Posts

I watched Big League Weekend 1 last night on Sky and it got me thinking.  They had a feature on Leroy Lita and at the end Steve Cotterill(the "expert" on the show) said he had never seen Leroy looking so relaxed and that maybe he had "found his club"

I know we are £20million ish in debt but why not attempt to borrow £2million more and increase that debt in an attempt to sign him.  I''m sure that somebody with more financial sense than me can explain why this is not possible but hypothetically IF he was willing to come why not pull out all the stops to achieve this?

1) It would be a strong statement of intent to the fans

2) It would boost the atmosphere which is incredibly negative at the moment

3) We would then have an "asset".  He is only 23 so barring major injury his value would be unlikely to drop. With any luck it would rise.

I don''t see how £22million debt is much worse than £20million when you increase the asset value of your squad as Lita would. Speculate to accumulate and all that. Thoughts?

What bank would lend to a club who already had 20 million of restructured debt and was olpenly saying it was in financial difficulties? Would you?

Okay then.  Ignoring the budget for buying him...You are Leroy Lita.  You are currently paid £25,000 a week at your club.  They may or may not want to sell you. There are three Championship clubs after you.  Two can more or less meet your wage ambitions and have a shot at the Premiership.  The third cannot, and are flirting with relegation.  What would you do?
