Paul Spector 0 Posted October 9, 2008 Copied this from a Luton fan from 606. Interesting stuff:"First of all, and I am sure on behalf of all Luton Town fans, I would like to thank Norwich City football club, for loaning us these two players, they are developing fast under Mick Harford, and both players are loved by the fans. Chris Martin seems to have got an extra yard of pace since his arrival and is proving to be a real handfull to opposition defences. His work rate is terrific, he lays on chances and is now starting to score goals, he was rightly named "Man of the Match" last night.Micky Spillane at 19 years of age, I believe has a wonderful future ahead of him, he is becoming a real rock at the heart of the defence and having seen Curtis Davis and Leon Barnet develope at Luton as Central defenders and then move on to play at a higher level, I rate this boy as being better than both of them at 19 years old.Unfortunately Paul McVeigh has never been able to establish a first team place at Luton, usually occupying the subs bench, I''m a bit disappointed with him, I thought his experience would be invaluable for us this season.Did we get Rossi Jarvis from you as well ? He''s a clever little player, full of running, gives 100%, but at the moment, a little lightweight, and you have got to battle a bit in league 2, butMick Harford obviously believes in him, so watch this space as to how he developes.Once again, thanks Norwich, and I hope you have a really successful season." Syteanric 1 Posted October 9, 2008 3 of those players are crap in the championship yet brilliant in League 2.....I think that says all it needs too.good decision to loan them to Luton by GR.. jas :)
Jimbo_Jet_Set 0 Posted October 9, 2008 I''m with Jas on this oneNeither of them had done enough here to warrant a place in the side. Maybe a season of struggling at the bottom of the league might be the making of them.At the the very least it should prepare them for life in league 1 with us
Mister Chops 7 Posted October 9, 2008 http://www.football.virginmedia.com/page/Football/League2/VideoIndex/0,,12555,00.html?mvnAssetId=3134419Have a look at Spillane''s defending (1 minute 30 seconds) and see what you think... he makes amends with a cracking header, but is that really Championship defending? Players should be allowed to make mistakes at 19, as long as they learn how not to make them by the time they are 21. Going on loan to Luton was a great move for both of them. Thats what should have happened to Ryan Jarvis, he should have been out on loan at 19, then if he came back at 20 and wasnt good enough for the side then loaned out again until he was 21, and if he still wasnt good enough for the side then released.Same for Ian Henderson. I do think that Cave-Brown should have been retained and loaned out for the season, I also think that Dean Sinclair should have been loaned out for a couple of seasons. He would have developed into the player he is now, which is a handy little squad player for Charlton. The other side of the argument is, well done Roeder for developing Spillane and Martin by loaning them out, but why on earth couldnt you have done the same with Joe Lewis? any club in league one would have had him for a year or two and paid most of his wages.Although the blame probably lies with Roger Wynn-Smith. He could be, sure. But not now.
DDD In The Fine City 1 Posted October 9, 2008 Looks like they have found there level, routed to the bottom of league 2. neither will ever be good enough to play for Norwich, unless thats where you want us playing our football?
Robert N. LiM 6,282 Posted October 9, 2008 Spillane is the only one from what I''ve seen who looks as though he might one day be a Championship player. I missed Martin''s great run in the side. Rossi Jarvis needs to stay in League Two, sad to say, because it would be great to have a Norfolk boy in the team.
