Robbo007 0 Posted September 2, 2004 Anyone else read or hear about this story. I''m not sure of the exact details, but it sounds like Crichton had an altercation with an opposition fan at the weekend whilst playing for York, who have subsequently suspended him. Have been able to find little coverage of this
Pete Raven 276 Posted September 2, 2004 From yesterday''s EDP:Former Norwich City goalkeeper Paul Crichton has defended himself over a disagreement with supporters which has led to a club suspension. Crichton was not picked against Accrington Stanley last night as his new club York investigated incidents during the game at Gravesend. “I’ve heard that I am supposed to have said I don’t care about the club, but that’s complete lies,” said Crichton. “I worked for the football club without getting paid for four weeks. I travel from Norwich and have done 8000 miles in my car since signing. “I am away from my family and I am only on a basic wage. I could have signed for Sheffield United or Kilmarnock for four times the money and just sat there picking up my wage. “I heard I’m meant to have said I don’t mind if we win, lose or draw as long as I get paid. “But I came to York because Chris Brass is my pal as well as my manager and, if I had said something like that, it would mean I am cheating on my friend.” Crichton was reportedly involved in a disagreement with some York supporters during the 4-0 defeat at Gravesend. “The board of York City and the manager, Chris Brass, are investigating the matter,” said director Sophie McGill. “Until a conclusion has been reached, Paul Crichton will not play for York.” Crichton joined York at the start of the season on a short-term deal after being released by the Canaries at the end of last term.
