Unpredictability of the summer so far

Recommended Posts

I think this close season has quite comfortably been the most unpredictable of recent memory.

Last season, as Grant brought in his signings, we always seemed to know what was going on. I remember Mr Carrow on the official board and others pretty much knowing every single thing happening days before it actually happened.

This season, we''ve had our so called insiders, but each and every time the rumours they spread have been unfounded - right back to Glenn Roeder being appointed. We had no idea who was our new manager until just before the press conference. The Aviva deal was largely a surprise as well. And I bet not one person would have predicted Sammy Clingan being our first summer signing.

Yes, I''m sure those "in the know" will point to the Hoolahan deal being leaked weeks ago, and fair enough - but the involvement of Matty Gilks in the deal was a surprise to say the least.

Whether you agree or disagree with the signings so far (and I personally think for £250k and Matty Gilks we''ve signed two good players) it''s been a very exciting summer so far, with no signs of it letting up either.

Totally agree, a lot of these things have come as a big surprise, even back to Roeder being appointed, his name rarely floated around the rumor mill, possibly with everyone saying Paul Jewell was favorite, but i to admit things do seem very close to the club''s chest which is what makes this all the more entertaining from a fans point of view.

Totally agree that for £250k and Matty Gilks we have an absolute bargain in Hoolahan, and I can see the style of football Clingan plays as being very very effective for us if we can ensure the ball is kept on the floor.

Looking forward to the coming days and weeks, will be very promising i believe!

personally id say hollahan looks great signing, to be honest didnt tear up the league to much last season but maybe at better bigger club he can now shine. you also need give him time and not say after 5 or 6games he no hucks is he?

clingan i dont rate good enough for regular 1st team. im not saying he isnt good enough just my view. but he is useful squad player on the cheap i would say. so im not critising the signing im just saying dont expect him play 46games and be 8/10 every week

Definately worth a shout, I thought he was the best player to come to molineux last season. He could give some of our lads a lesson in movement off the ball and his enthusiasm to want the ball for 90 minutes.

We played them back in august, i personally rate him. cant remember anything more than good performance but then people have different opinions

and my opinion on him in one match shouldnt mean he was like that in 46games

i.e best player i seen all seen was jay jay ockacha - perfect example

he is defiantly a thumbs up
