Salopian 1 Posted June 27, 2008 It seems that we showed a last minute interest in Hume, who eventually went to Barnsley for £1m plus.I am puzzled, GR has his targeted players and seems confident that we will get some or most. So is looking at last minute possibilities a matter of real interest - Gow and McCourt seem others, to increase the squad size and options, or is it part of a smoke screen to divert attention, or even a way of subtly making competitors have to pay a higher figure? It could be any of these, but one thing is clear - we have enough transfer funds to even consider a £1m striker who was not part of our plans. In which case, I rejoice. Hog 0 Posted June 27, 2008 I must admit to being quite confused by all this as well. I like you, was under the opinion that Roeder''s list was all drawn up, players were almost in the bag etc, and then we here about our last minute bids, McCourt, Hume, Gow etc Does this mean that our list has collapsed and we are scrabbling around trying to find half decent players before pre-season. Or, are these players in addition to "the list" meaning that we may have far more money than anyone expected? I guess only time will tell, but what I don''t want is the familiar story of who we went after and nearly got, but now we have to rely on what we have scenario.
