Ipswich fan banned after derby trouble

An Ipswich Town supporter has been banned from watching football for

three years after he was abusive to club stewards at the derby game

against Norwich. Darren

Marsh was arrested near the entrance to the Portman Road stadium during

the Blues'' derby match against Norwich on April 13 after he shouted and

swore at staff.The 24-year-old, of Sandy Hill Lane, Ipswich,

pleaded guilty at South East Suffolk Magistrates'' Court to a section

five public order offence.Justices imposed a three-year football banning order, which prohibits Marsh from attending any matches in the UK. He was also fined £120. During the hearing, video evidence of Marsh''s behaviour was shown to the court. A police spokesman today said: “Marsh was arrested outside the gates at Portman Road at 12.45pm on Sunday, April 13. “He was being abusive to club stewards, using foul and abusive language.”The

defendant first appeared before magistrates on April 21. Marsh''s arrest

was one of just a handful during a relatively peaceful derby.

Poorman Road is a designated area of oustanding quietness.You would think one of these pitchfork jugglers would at least respect his own club''s stance on noise.Anymore of this and you will have stewards going round waking up fans in the Green King Stand during the game.
