Yellow Rider 0 Posted December 1, 2007 OK the view on Virgin Media highlights was poor and it may actually have been a ''fair'' tackle but Adams and Co. on Rodeo Norfolk + Roeder as well are missing the point surely. The golden rule when you are a defender in your own area is be very careful about sliding in like Semmy did. At 2-1 up with 10 mins (or less) to go all he had to do was get close to the guy and keep goalside and just try and block any pass, cross etc. The bloke was nowhere near the goal, he was actually running back towards the edge of the box so why the hell did Semmy go steaming in as he did!! Away from home you''re inviting trouble and it was totally unnecessary.GR savaged the ref but he should realise the error Semmy made in making the tackle anyway and have a quiet word! GJP 79 Posted December 1, 2007 I think you''re being unnecessarily critical.
First Jedi 0 Posted December 1, 2007 He got the ball on his FEET - no sliding in. The guy ran into him and over him. No foul. If anything, it was a foul on Otsemobor.
James Kent 0 Posted December 1, 2007 Interesting view, but the fact of the matter is it was never a penalty. I don''t agree with your view that Semmy was in the wrong he won the ball fair and square. Ok he could have not challenged him and just try to block the cross, but remember he may not of blocked the cross and it could have been a goal or it may have gone for a corner they may of scored from. It was split decison and he decided to go in and win the ball and you can''t agrue he did the safest thing and was punished by a appalling decsion. Bottom line it was never a penalty.
