Baldyboy 1 Posted August 31, 2007 could somebody let me know if i am correct in thinking doherty has already had FOUR this season? if he gets another tomorrow9more thanlikely!) and shax has a long term injury we could be in the poo for centre halfs big time, unless of course granty pulls a rabbit out the hat today by signing another centre half! Mud Man 0 Posted August 31, 2007 And the ones in the League Cup won''t count, will they?
nutty nigel 7,902 Posted August 31, 2007 I think they all count!Doherty only got 3 yellow cards in total last season so this sudden increase is probably another example of this seasons defending. Although yellow cards can be costly sometimes because of suspensions I bet I''m not alone in being secretly pleased that we have toughened up a bit. Lets be honest, any team that wins the fair play league wins jack all else! Ipswich won it and qualified for Europe but they got relegated. Just as we got relegated when we nearly won it. Docs yellow on Tuesday was when he pulled back the Rochdale player who looked set to get away from him in the last few moments of normal time. Yes he got a yellow but if the player had gone on to score we would have been out of the cup. Yellow cards are a fact of life in football these days and the avoidable ones are the ones for dissent and off the ball stuff for which I believe players should be fined by their clubs.
