Empty Seats

Recommended Posts

Did any one notice that Birmingham had a crowd of only 16.000 for their FA Cup tie with Newcastle, and that was supplemented with 4000 Geordies .So the sight of so many empty seats at St Andrews send out a clear warning to our board. You can not take it for granted( excuse the pun) that a full house at Carrow Road every game will carry on.The warning signs are already creeping in,Skakepit last home game one or two empty seats.Get the deadwood out fast and lets get some quality in or we are back to crowds of only 15.000 and lots of nice yellow seats to look at( not very pretty).

Ok, obviously if we carry on struggling in the bottom half of the championship attendances will drop, but that''s got nothing to do with Birmingham! Or are you saying if we had drawn Newcastle in the 3rd round of the FA Cup last season we would only have had 12,000 fans want tickets?

Our supporters are more loyal and more tolerant than Birminghams but everybody has a limit and it wouldn''t go on forever!

Empty seats are more an indication of high ticket prices than anything else in Birminghams'' situation.  Casual ticket purchasers just can''t afford to fork out 25 quid each for a ticket straight after Xmas, and season ticket holders don''t get FA Cup games as part of their package.  However, if Norwich have as poor a second half of the season as they did the first half, then next season will see more empty seats as the result of fewer renewals.  A lot hinges on visible improvement in the next 3 months in my opinion.
I wonder how many season ticket holders Birmingham have?
Probably not as many as us but that''s irrelevent because it was a cup game. If you wanted to mane a comparison we got 23,968 for the 3rd round match against West Ham last season.
