steadyboy 0 Posted November 9, 2006 The new manager is constantly publicly criticising his players. This is sheer bad management and surely will affect team spirit and demotivate those who he criticises. The great managers never resorted to this, and were always prepared to defend their players.A case in point is that of Darren Huckerby. Darren is probably the most skilful player on the books. His talents should be encouraged. If his skills are sacrificed for ''work ethic'' then this will be to the disadvantage of NCFC, and Huckerby will probably leave the club.Peter Grant should pipe down, and confine his crticisms of his players to within the club''s four walls
pete again 0 Posted November 9, 2006 Surely he is demotivating you, to date they have not shown much motivation. Huckerby is a luxury we just can''t afford some times PG telling him how it is or how it needs to be, let him get on with his job as he thinks fit.
NavMan 0 Posted November 9, 2006 Yet another posting on this very same subject - why can''t people use the other posts to add their comments instead of having around 15 new subject postings which just goes over the same old story
Canary02 0 Posted November 9, 2006 I know what you mean r.e. the criticism, but I''m willing to wait it out and see how Grant does. There hasn''t been any obvious adverse reaction as yet. What we have to come to terms with is that this isn''t Worthington. A public criticism usually meant a players days were numbered under NW. Grant on the other hand may make his point, and then move on, bearing no grudges. It will take the players and us, time to get used to this different approach. alex_ncfc 664 Posted November 9, 2006 The way I see it, Grant is showing who''s boss, and I don''t have one problem with that. I''m pleased with the way in which he is going about things.
steadyboy 0 Posted November 9, 2006 Yes he obviously will get on with the job as he sees fit, my point is that he is publicly denigrating his players, which cannot be good for morale and will not engender loyalty.Any good business manager knows about this, PG has a lot to learn about man management it seems.
