Credit the Worthy Out campaigners

Recommended Posts

I think that credit should be given to the organisers of the Worthy Out campaign for their message (www.worthyout.co.uk) for their organisation, and their co-operation with the police, and wanting to keep the protest peaceful. I think this shows that the WO campaign is not a bunch of thugs, as some KTF''s would have you think.

As for the Delia message, don''t get too excited by this. This is not an ultimatium, or the ''dreaded'' vote of confidence. Also, let''s be vocal during the game to support the side. No matter what your opinion on the management, let''s not go back to the cemetary atmosphere of last season please!

Whilst I agree with most of this, I wish the protests could be saved for after the match - after all, are we trying to get our message through to the Board, or trying to look good for the Sky cameras? I think a post-match protest is more convenient for most supporters to take part in and, quite frankly, I don''t give a stuff whether it inconveniences the police to do it that way, or not! Who bloody asked them to comment? I don''t recall the charging police horses in the Chase days caring about how peaceful, or otherwise, any demonstration was.Regarding vocal support during the game - YES! I know some players have let us all down recently with their performances, but you can''t pick and choose on a match day. There are people out there who deserve all the backing we can give them and won''t know any bad feeling isn''t aimed at them too, if it rears its head. Booing and cheering are equally indiscriminate in there effectiveness during a match and I won''t give any team any assistance in beating us - they start with an advantage already!

Pre or post match?  Pre match shows that its a far more calculated statement whereas post match is driven very much by what has gone on during the immediate 90 mins before and is driven by a far more knee jerk type reaction.   However the latter is more likely to get a larger protest if the game was poor but conversley little turn out following a win.

Its a tough one to call but on a Sunday people would have time post match with fewer demands to get home promptly.

As far as I can see the worthyout.co.uk organisers have consistently attempted to organise this type of event to diffuse fan conflict and have consistently given a message of in match support and getting behind the team (For example they took criticism for the QPR booing but this was an organic reaction from a significant section of the crowd,  not a co-ordinated, pre planned or supported action by that website).

Just as all fans are not for changing the manager (even now) not all fans who want worthy out support the way worthyout.co.uk have gone about their campaign;  some feel it has taken things too softly - others too aggressively.  As always with these things the truth is somewhere in the middle.

the problem with protests post match FB are 1. they tend not to happen if we win and 2. lots of us have long journeys home with work the next day and 3 people wanting to get home to their roast....if the result is poor on sunday the protest will happen after spontaneously anyway...i agree about booing etc for me a stronger message would be a wall of silence on sunday.
