FilletTheFishWife . 0 Posted October 1, 2006 One yearof Premiership revenue2 years of parachute payments10M for Ashton, Green & Mckenizie. Apart from the 3M spent on Earnie (which the board know they can recoup) how much has been invested in the squad since Ashton left? You can''t build a promotion chasing squad with £600K (on a player who can''t last 90 minutes).Prudence with ambition.Well there''s plenty of prudence. There''s no ambition. The board need to take a hard look at themselves. They are to blame for this mess. If they didn''t have confidence in Worthy they should have sacked him sooner and released more of their hoarded bounty to invest in a decent squad.
LinkNR9 0 Posted October 1, 2006 Sorry, FTF, but he''s had plenty of dosh to spend. Half a million on Hooves explains why he should have been sacked in the summer at the latest.
Darlo dumplin’ 0 Posted October 1, 2006 agreed, with few exceptions, transfer eals have been poor.
FilletTheFishWife . 0 Posted October 1, 2006 I agree Hughes was 500K was money wasted but tell me a manager who hasn''t made a duff signing or two and what about the rest of all that money. We have been cheated. p.s. this is not a defence of Worthy but either the board should have sacked him at the end of last season or backed him with the money to build a squad with considerably more than 600K (now we''ve got to wait till January and hope we''re still in the running and then hope the board finally hand-over the loot)
Syteanric 1 Posted October 1, 2006 the board have hung on to the transfer budget, and wisely, to give the new man.... someone could get 5 or 6 new players in for that!jas :)

However, that means Delia wasn''t telling the truth the other week when she talked about making further savings. If they''ve hung on the transfer budget they should have sacked him in the summer. Simple as. Talk about setting someone up to fail.
FilletTheFishWife . 0 Posted October 1, 2006 Mystic gets my point exactly. The board have taken a bad situation and made it worse by sending Worthy out to battle for promotion with a threadbare squad. Their incompetence in handling the managerial situation and the bungled and their tight-fisted transfer dealings beggars belief.
