ONeills Free Kick 82 0 Posted April 30, 2006 Writing as an avid live supporter for 34 years, I can''t quite understand how anyone who just listens to the games on the radio can have any right whatsoever to express an opinion on anything to do with the team''s performance. Surely they can only agree with whatever Chris Goreham / Roy Waller / Neil Adams say?Anyway, having actually experienced all the home games this season I really do think that this has been by far the worst season I have ever seen. The standard of football played by most of the opposing sides has been absolutely rubbish (including Reading) and to have finished 13 points away from the play-offs was a disgrace.Look at Worthington''s signings this season and last season (apart from Ashton and Earnshaw) - Charlton, Jonson, Helveg, Jarrett, Robinson, Hughes, Etuhu, Colin, Louis-Jean, Doherty, Thorne. Not to mention paying premiership wages to Johanson to sit on the bench and to Rehman to sit at home. How did we manage to win 6 consecutive home games before today? What on earth does that say about the standard of the division we have been playing in?Oh and don''t forget that we were outplayed at home by the worst Ipswich team in living memory. We desperately need to have a clear-out before the start of next season. Unfortunately I can''t see the manager doing this as it would be an admission of guilt. Therefore the board desperately needs to get rid of Worthington before things get even worse. My prediction however is that we will let Worthington carry on until about October by which time it will be too late and by the end of next season we will be lucky to still be in the Champuioship let alone the Premiership. LinkNR9 0 Posted May 1, 2006 Listen, 82, just because you''ve gone to the matches for 34 years, it doesn''t mean that you''re a ''true'' supporter! You only qualify as a true supporter if you stayed behind today to honour the glorious season that we''ve just had (even if you''ve only been to 4 or 5 matches in your whole life).Seriously, though, you''re right - that''s my OPINION, Mr Fence, if that''s OK with you - the team is absolute pants at the moment. This open wound that is our Club right now will only heal when Worthington goes, and takes his rubbish with him.
First Wizard 0 Posted May 1, 2006 Groan!, not this old chestnut again OFK.ANY City fan HAS the right to express an opinion whether or not.........................Oh damn it! I can''t be bothered. And yes pal, I am a ''live'' supporter as you call it too, since 1957 as a matter of fact, but I also feel like a ''dead'' one after watching Worthless''s team underperform all this year as well!. BedsCanary 0 Posted May 1, 2006 There are lots of radio supporters on this board. You don''t realise just quite how many until you get home from a game and find a 20 page thread on how well (or badly in most cases) the team are performing - posted throughout the match. soton_canary 0 Posted May 1, 2006 Sorry 82, disagree about the radio fans point. Whilst I attend most games (33 this season) when I can''t I listen to commentary on the internet. Anyone with some sort of intelligence should not purely base their opinions on commentary. From listening on the radio you can get a feel for the atmosphere (or lack of it recently!!) and reaction from the crowd to see past the words coming from the commentators. Admittedly movement by players off the ball can not be noticed but by listening to commentary, feeling the reaction from the crowd, watching highlights, reading match reports and posts from people at the game together with a general knowledge of the players and the way they are playing at the particular time, informed opinions can be mounted. CatNcfc 0 Posted May 1, 2006 Have to say i think your post is out of order, i''ve supported norwich for 11 yrs (im only 20) i used to go as often as i could, but its an expensive hobby, and now im at uni in reading so i only get back for four games a season (as im a member) I''d love to go to more but i just cant afford it and i cant spare the time as i''m studying and working. I listen on the internet to the games, i read reports and the posts on here and i talk to people who did go to the game, all to give me different opinions to those of NA or RW. I am more than capable of making up my own mind and im offended that you dont think i can offer an opinion on the club i adore. As Wiz said all fans are entitled to their opinions whether they can make the games in person or not, and remember there are many fans out there who physically cannot go and rely on the radio, their opinions certainly still count. Trent Canary 0 Posted May 1, 2006 As I posted elsewhere: -"No I dont go to games because Im at uni. However when I do go I usually post thorough player ratings (Im sure you can find some if you search for them), and whenever Im at home I always go.And yes I am regurgitating what Ive heard from Roy, hence why it says it sounded as though we got a good reception on the lap of honour. Seeing as though many people left perhaps its relevant..Or should I just never bother posting seeing as though my opinions mean absolutely sod all. There was me thinking that going to the games is the only requirement to being able to think round here."Ill never post an opinion on a players performance or team performance if I havent gone, however I think im as equally qualified to give opinions on the club as a whole. Garlic Bread?! 0 Posted May 1, 2006 Put it into perspective - Can you read afilm review and then tell someone who went to the cinema (and loved the film)that you thought it was crap and the acting was poor. No. Can you listen to theradio and decide, for yourself, who played well and who was awful. No. Talkingto other people about the game/film does not allow you to form your own opinions. If I wanted to know what Roythought of the game I would listen to the radio, however I have heard whilstwatching the game the commentary - the man is a fool.
