The Judge 0 Posted May 4, 2006 Alot of the people that are in favour of sticking with Worthington at this point in time are saying give him 10 games next season and if we aren''t in the top 6 then think the club should replace him.Can you of that opinion please tell me how you think this is a good thing ?? - what replacement of the quality we would be looking for are we going to get at that stage of the season ? (unless we have to spend all our available transfer kitty on compensation we would have to pay to club we got him from). It is also very likely that any new manager would need time to adjust to his new role and get the player playing his style of football - meaning next season (one of the most critical in the medium term future of our club with the remaining paracute payments) would be a write off aswell. So please could you explain your logic - the only thing I can think you are hoping for/believe is that Worthington can turn it around - if so can you please explain based on what we have seen this season and last what makes you feel he can do it ? and PLEASE don''t come out with he''s done it before rubbish.. sorry things move on, things change - just because he has done it before doesn''t mean he can do it again
Oso Butch 0 Posted May 4, 2006 They clearly do intend to stick with Worthless, despite all that happened. Just look at these words from Donkeycastoff in today''s EDP:And supporters can rest assured that, with Nigel, we will be sitting down to assess where we can make improvements, on and off the pitch, to try to improve on this season''s ninth-place finish. But with your backing, your vocal support, your fierce determination to put aside this season''s differences and get fully and squarely behind Nigel and the team next season, we give ourselves the best possible chance of succeeding.IMO, the NCFC Chief Executive would not mention Worthless so explicitly at this point in the season if they were intent on getting shot of him. Both sentences would be complete in themselves without mentioning Worthless at all - so his name was mentioned quite deliberately. In one fell swoop, Doncaster has just managed to bu**er up my entire summer. Thanks, pal. [:@]
Citizen Journalist Foghorn 0 Posted May 4, 2006 Glenn Hoddle did it before...This 10 games thing is nonsense, even if we have a poor start, the KTF brigade and the board will call for waiting till christmas anyway..... Then our chances may be gone for good. The money runs out and this man leaves the playing side of our club in the same state as when he he took over, underacheiving in the championship. Robert Chase admitted he stayed a year too long yesterday, and all his good work for the club has been forever forgotten. Well Worthy has had that first year and now will probably end up spending 2 years in the job too long and I guarantee he will always be remembered by me as the guy who got us promoted but was a total **** nonetheless.Well done to the spineless board. lucky green trainers 0 Posted May 4, 2006 it will be a tough division next season make no mistake with the likes of brum and brom looking to go straight back. i would imagine, like lots of city fans, my differences with worthy & the board will be put to one side to give city the chance of a best possible start. however, this is by definition not the same as having a fresh start behind a new manager. also delia & co should know the dreadful atmosphere since january at carra rd with the quality of displays served up is hardly the best preparation. we''ve been watching macdonalds rather than al a carte recently and whereas the likes of southampton have some excellent form behind them, our platform for next season is poor in comparasion. in my view, the interest of NCFC is best served presently by getting in a new manager. however, in the absence of action by the board, i feel getting behind the team next season is a must for us all at carra rd. if nigel bombs, then he must do the decent thing and resign. if this happens 10 games in, then we would still have a chance of perhaps making the playoffs only by then - but this scenario is obviously not ideal. however, this approach is all one sided - i''m having to put my opinions to one side - for my money worthy needs to make plenty of concilatory comments between now and the start of next season. his recent true supporter and vocal minority comments are a massive own goal and do little to encourage the unity we need for next season. presently, i will relucantly get behind him - but to get my whole hearted support, he needs to reach out to the disaffected big-time and quick. worthy whole attitude seems to be modelled on ''my way or the high way'' and just as the crowd has been frozen out by him, is this how he approachs man management with the players? charlie seems to think so. Oso Butch 0 Posted May 4, 2006 "if nigel bombs, then he must do the decent thing and resign". But this is the problem - the man has bombed, but he hasn''t resigned. Nor will he. He''s too arrogant. He''s not going to go until he''s pushed - under his contract, he''s guaranteed 12 months'' pay. The whole thing is a bl**dy shambles. Do we really think that Foley''s replacement will be able to do the business with Worthless hovering over him? I don''t, I''m afraid. Worthless trades the players (in/out); Worthless picks the team; Worthless determines the tactics (ha-ha!!) I rest my case. Worthless must follow Foley, now ...!! If he feels it''s been that great working with Foley, he should clear off and team up with him somewhere else. I understand that Colchester could be loooking for someone soon....
