CardiffCanary 131 Posted April 9 I was working on Southampton this week so I went to st Mary’s tonight. observations on the two teams ( whilst constantly refreshing my pinkun match feed !) 1) nothing to fear if we get soton in the playoffs - they really aren’t all that 2) Russ Martin and the atmosphere… if he really thinks Carra Rd was flat when we played them then God knows what tonight could be described as ! Absolute library!!!! 3) Cov fans … fair play to them ! 10mins of singing twist and shout ! Tried their best to make some sort of atmosphere. Their team also was pretty duff. Midfield was very lightweight 4) still plenty of ups and downs left but 4 games to go and we are in better nick than Soton and 5 pts better off than Cov so let’s stay positive yarmy 3

Certain of the play offs yet can't get automatic. If that were us I think you would find FCR would be the traditional 'library' also! Some of the football they played recently at Ipswich was by far and away the best you'll see outside the PL. That second goal, for example, was outstanding. Their problem is two fold - not killing teams off (ditto us last night) whilst their obsession with playing out via their reckless keeper always give opponents a chance to get back in the game after being totally outplayed. No like he did in the HOME game, if you want to reference Saints, he’s gone defensive numerous times this season and it’s barely worked out has it? Last night being a prime example, but if you just want to ignore the facts that’s up to you

It isn't difficult - you're the one who started talking about Saints - not me! Anyway, since we're on the subject, the two League games against them this season give us some grounds for optimism if we were to meet them in the play-offs. In the 4-4 draw down there we were robbed blind by an eye-wateringly incompetent linesman who basically rewrote the laws of football to give Barnes offside when he wasn't in an active position. Then Saints levelled with a very late penalty which was soft to say the least. In the home game a perfectly good winning goal by McCallum was ruled out for a non-existent off-side against Hwang. I'm not making any bold claims that we'd definitely beat them over two legs or anything like that, but I think we'd go in with a decent shout.

No, I replied to a comment saying about being negative and you mentioned the 4-4! Did you forget the negative tactics in the home game then?

And I asked you one too, shall I call you Rishi also? No I won’t insult you I’m better than that. You like to throw the insults around don’t you? That’s another question by the way 🤣 We didn’t in the 4-4 draw but we did in the home game didn’t we, there now I’ve answered your question maybe you could answer all I’ve asked you, maybe even without insults too, or would that be asking too much? (Yet another question for you by the way)

(Yet another question for you by the way) Well at least we can both agree that being called Rishi is an insult 🤣😅 (Sorry - a bit below the belt I agree). I did answer your first question quite a lot of posts ago though. We were open and attacking in the 4-4 draw at St Mary's - we set up very defensively in the 1-1 home draw. For the vast majority of this season - especially when we were having that awful run in the Autumn - Wagner was being accused of playing too open and not being defensive enough. Seems to me that the poor bu**er can't win. Anyway - we're the 5th highest scoring team in the division (just 1 goal behind Farke's Leeds)and the aggregate of goals scored and conceded in our games is the second highest in the division (just 1 behind some team that plays in blue). Football is meant to be an entertainment industry and Wagner is delivering on that front in a big way. Accusing him of being "too defensive" just seems miles off the mark to me. It’s all about opinions, mine differs to yours but I won’t insult you over that. There’s many people think he goes defensive, me included. His tactics and substitutions seem to beat that out in my opinion
