A Load of Squit 5,184 Posted March 11 Died aged 66. A member of The Waterboys and World Party also wrote 'She's the one' recorded by Robbie Williams. Loved this one.
Herman 9,793 Posted March 11 I've just been listening to this great song. Should have been a bigger hit. RIP Karl.
sonyc 5,539 Posted March 11 Was reading about this and again it is no age. It's getting to the stage where folk around my age are dying...then you realise that death truly is the meaning of life. The core of it anyway, to care and show love and respect to others while you can. Like ALOS and Herman I liked that song the most. Wistful stuff. This is a rather nice article just published about him.. https://www.stereogum.com/2255269/karl-wallinger-world-party-the-waterboys-dead-at-66/news/ 1
Mr Angry 1,569 Posted March 12 We’ve just been listening to The Waterboys and World Party for the last two hours as my wife is a fan. Neither of us knew that he had written She’s The One, nor that he had won an Ivor Novello for it. I don’t know much World Party but Is It Like Today is a great song, I love the line “Blood just looks the same when you open the veins “
