shefcanary 2,956 Posted November 11, 2021 Phew, this has been some week for the clubs down at the bottom. I think the clubs truly at risk of relegation are Norwich (Lampard), Newcastle (Howe), Aston Villa (Gerrard), Burnley (Dyche), Watford (Ranieri), Leeds (Bielsa), Southampton (Hassenhutl) & Brentford (Frank). So what are people thinking now? Given that Hassenhutl's name was thrown into the ring, there is no smoke without fire - if we should beat them next match they are really in the fight and have not been firing consistently. Brentford's initial good form is rapidly dissipating (last season their form did come in spurts [ahem] and are looking adrift now their squad is being tested, Watford are not exactly experiencing anew manager burst (apart from the Everton match - an aberration). Beilsa's Leeds are struggling a la Sheffield Untied last season; again as soon as the injuries started their form waned like the Blades did, close in all matches but very few wins. That's three clubs I think we can seriously now take on in this fight given a Lampard bounce. The really interesting battle will be who of Lampard / Gerrard / Howe will get the quickest response. I cannot see Howe having the presence on the training ground and in the dressing room to change the drift at Newcastle. And Gerard has got to impose himself on the Villa dressing room in a similar way he achieved at Rangers, can he repeat this (my view probably but ....). So I think Norwich can definitely overtake the Toon but who wins out of Lampard & Gerrard? Dyche will be Dyche - 17th is the lowest they will finish. So game on, I really do think new manager bounce will change things ate bottom. My new bottom three - Southampton / Leeds / Brentford. Or am I deluded 🤔😀
sonyc 6,145 Posted November 11, 2021 No, you're not. I have those same 7 teams as the most threatened with us. A win against Southampton and a match soon after at Newcastle will really put the cat among the pigeons if we can win that too. I haven't given up the season (nor had I under Daniel Farke) but all now depends on that first step, a win against the Saints. Carrow Road will be right up for it. 2-1 to us and we can start to believe. We have to look ahead, no other choice.
Capt. Pants 5,014 Posted November 11, 2021 It remains to be seen whether Lampard or whoever can turn this round, but I still think there can be 3 worse teams than us. Had Farke remained then there is no question in my mind we would have finished bottom. Keeping Farke would have been the equivalent of giving up, at least we can have a right go at these vital games coming up.
Robert N. LiM 6,301 Posted November 11, 2021 Can't see us staying up without finishing above Brentford or Watford. Sad to say, I think Newsandcastle will spend enough in Jan to get out of it. Struggling to find a third club, tbh.
