Essjayess 307 Posted December 25, 2020 Only just seen the news of the passing of this great cricketer in the past couple of days. Well remember as a kid watching his triple century in the test against NZ in the mid 60s, that knock still stands today as having the most 4s and 6s in a single innings. Absolutely one of the best and leading Norfolk born sportsmen ever. Had a very long 20 year battle with an illness apparently, brave man indeed, both in and out of his sporting career.
mannings bandy legs 393 Posted December 25, 2020 One of the best and bravest opening batsmen England has ever had. To face the might and pace of the greatest West Indian attack took real courage. True norfolk icon.

PurpleCanary 5,580 Posted December 26, 2020 I saw him play for the Edrich XI against the Lord's Taverners at Ingham in the early 1960s. I had to look this up but he got bowled by Garry Sobers for only six! RIP.
