Pukki was fantastic first third of the season but with no real back up he has been run into the ground playing when he could have done with a break and with niggling injuries, also playing a scoring for Finland much of the season. Then unfortunately when not 100% he has also lost a bit of confidence in a side making very very few chances second half of the season, yes he could have added perhaps  another 3 or 4 to his tally but still will be one of the first names on the team sheet next season if hopefully he is still here

Championship, we are looking to score

PL, we are looking not to concede

Celtic is hardly irrelevant. He had exactly the same problem there as here, and at the highest level it appears he struggles to score goals. He has missed so many good chances this season and now our creativity seems to have dried up too, he is getting worse. He has been dropped and subbed for a reason, and that isn’t his work ethic!

Well, apart from most defences Celtic faced were League One level and Celtic were the dominant force.

The closest comparison to them would be his season in the Championship where he was sensational for us.

Then this season he still has 11 goals...in the best division in the world...

I actually watched most matches Pukki played in Celtic and I agree that it is totally different case. Back then Pukki did not have physical strength to combat defenders and just seemed out of place. Celtic was playing very slow attacks with slow passing (that is same with us actually) and playing against opponents who parked the bus on penalty box. There was no service for his kind of player. Celtic only won the matches by some players dribbling in or shooting from distance. All by solo efforts. They had enough quality to do so against much weaker opponents. Pukki is not dribbler kind of forward and rarely shoots from distance, so he was in totally wrong team.

We all were able to see that in early season that he is premier quality, but I agree he has bad form now. That happens to everyone, even Salah has had such streaks. The issue is that you usually need some goals to get confidence back and in team like Pool youll get lots more chances to get those lucky goals as well. Unfortunately, it must be pretty hard to get back on track when you get that one chance in a match.
