Were Boro on the Beach?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering whether the reason we were such comprehensive winners at Wembley today was that Middlesbrough had decided they had already beaten us twice in the league and therefore didn''t really need to turn up at their best?
There is normally a good reason why we win games like this and it''s usually nothing to do with how good we were or weren''t and all about the shortcomings of the opposition.  I can''t quite find it but I''m throwing the question out there for the wise folk of the forum to set me straight.

They quit trying at about the 85 minute mark which is when you''d expect a desperate flourish to knock one in and still have time to play for a draw.

Perhaps that they''d never come close, barring that one long shot against the flow of play early on, left them with nothing in the tank at that point.

AN did a masterful job with prep, line up, strategy and subs.

So, no. No they weren''t.

Well the number of beach balls in their end before the KO Nor, you might be on to something there!

The circumstances of the two games were different. The game at CR took place on the back of a five game winning streak, in run when we had to play 5 games in a 14 days - 3 of which were tricky away fixtures vs. Brighton, Bolton and Leeds. The tiredness reveled by the sloppy start and the route 1 efforts to equalise. Only 3 fixtures (without pressure to win the first) in the last 14 days provided more time to recover and to focus. We looked sharp from the beginning, no defensive lapses to exploit. In other words Boro wasn''t any worse than last time - we were a lot better.
