The weeks vaccine figures for the world are in wow. We are now a few doses away from 360 million. 122 countries are now vaccinating. To put this into context last week we crashed through the 300 million mark, so this week 58 million vaccinated, whilst 300 million were vaccinated in the previous 3 months. We are now going at 9.5 million a day. If you live in a “ rich country “ supply does not seem to be an issue.

I am full of good news there were indeed 37 events registered by the 8/3. AZ advise via a statement ( from the usual sources for those on the COS thread ) additional tests have and are being conducted by themselves and European medical agencies, the same as happened in Brazil and US during the trials. None of the tests have shown any cause for concern ( as had already been indicated by Norway, Denmark and Ireland in their statements ). All good news.

I won’t really call this inside info but sort of general info to vaccine points via the NHS regards the NHS vaccine roll out. For the rest of March the various outlets are expected to administer 4 - 5 million doses a week. Of course a lot of these will be second doses, but it will hopefully mean all over 50’s will receive 1 dose by 2/4. Please get vaccinated as soon as you receive your letter or telephone call. Employers now in the main are really good at releasing you for an hour or letting you go early. Also be sure to give anyone with a little reluctance the facts. We always explain these needles are really thin so those that have had it can vouch that it really does not hurt. Others will mention side effects, same as the flu jab and 1 in 10 but it is showing your immune system working and far better than getting COVID. One last regular objection is serious effects, but again you can say 375 million vaccinated and not one serious reaction from any of the vaccines.

Yes your ignorance. They are following their guidelines. About 2 months ago you were saying that the slightest issue should be looked at in any of the vaccines. Why are you trying to make something of nothing ? They have said it is highly unlikely to be linked, but it is a particular batch that has had a few instances. Even AZ said they rechecked their data what do you think they should do ? Just keep using and let the anti Vaxers run riot ? They are ensuring safety.

Hi VW I am happy to stand corrected but my understanding has always been that the higher the efficacy the better chance you have of controlling COVID. Of course all the vaccines as you point out are amazing and will do a job. America today passed the 2.5 million in a day vaccines, with almost 2.6 million. To put this into context on the 20/1 they had administered 16.5 million doses and they set a target of 100 million in a hundred days. To hit that target they needed to get to 1.5 million doses per day, however in 50 days they are already at 89 million. Their supply / manufacture is now so huge they think they could be done by the end of May.

Indeed a very interesting discussion and being a U.K. recipient of Pfizer I hope every day the real life data shows we have done this correctly. Pfizer is the most used vaccine in the world and there is plenty of data beyond the trials. From various countries there is however confirmed data based around the manufacturers recommended way of administering the Pfizer vaccine. This data is simply way beyond any expectations and means that Israel aim to open up to the new normal on 30/3. The results are similar in the us where cases have dropped from 200,000 to 64,000 per day and deaths have already halved. The US are beginning to remove restrictions. Because of their massive supply they now hope to be vaccinated by the end of May. Using this for discussion purposes I would question if it was felt our way for Pfizer works best why have others not followed ? I would suspect they are waiting for some evidence, but by the time that evidence comes it would be to late to change a strategy. One last interesting point coming out of Israel is Pfizer is so effective they do not expect any boosters to have to be used for at least a year. Away from the U.K. it is said that those that chose Pfizer as their main strategy chose well due to its amazing efficacy. Again outside the U.K. is a major concern of our Pfizer strategy encouraging variants. These are however discussions for the future as until we have absolute results we will never know, however one hopes both strategies prove as effective, why wouldn’t you. These points are for Pfizer and have nothing to do with Oxford where they had advised this was likely to improve their efficacy.

Indeed he was stating a shortage in supply not the overall doses given. Yesterday saw the following figures that no longer indicate the same scale of supply problems. The biggest problem for the future is China and Russia taking advantage of the likes of America keeping to their word going forward and not giving any vaccine to anyone until they have vaccinated in total. They are both giving away huge supplies to countries they “ want future dealings with “ a situation that could become very dangerous. America 2,302,844 EU 1,391,202 India 1,280,806 Of course these countries / Unions are much bigger than us so will show much higher numbers, but it does show the numbers are being ramped up around the world, and supply is becoming more plentiful ( for the rich nations ) by the day. With 5 days of the week gone 45 million doses so far have been given around the world, so probably will be 60 - 70 million this week. This compares to 300 million doses in the previous 3 months.

Being in the Pfizer club I tend to agree. The doctors I work with on the vaccine sites understand the logic but also see the efficacy coming out of Israel and America and pray it will still be similar after 12 weeks. Being an active member of the COS thread you will appreciate why Oxford is 8 - 12 weeks. At the end of the day we still have to give those second doses, but had there been compelling data to suggest 12 weeks definitely worked for Pfizer ( that’s not to say it does not ) every country would have switched, but until that can be shown 99% of countries ( US included ) are sticking to 21 days. It certainly appears to not be working in cancer groups with 12 weeks, but hopefully that is the only group.

If the second dose is essential why is your post encouraging people to break rules after 3 weeks by saying they take effect after 3 weeks and other posts criticise the world for giving the second dose.

Absolute tosh, they administered 1.4 million doses yesterday. Why lie ? They may have had problems, but like the world they are moving on as should you. They are so short they have exported 37 million doses to other countries, including 9 million to the Uk. If they still have issues they need to improve its administering the vaccine not supply numbers. If they had the NHS I am sure they would have those issues sorted to. The way they administer doses is exactly as each manufacturer has recommended, AZ recommend Oxford at 8 - 12 weeks, Pfizer is 21 - 28 days from first dose as is moderna. We know Pfizer is 99.96 2 weeks after 2nd dose is issued ( Israel data ) as yet although likely to be effective still there is still no absolute proof that the 12 week gap will be the same.

This is a really strange time to write this report. 3 weeks ago this would probably have been reasonably accurate, but they are now picking up pace ( yesterday 1.35 million doses administered ). It also shows how you and mad moy lied to us by claiming we could not go on our own, when clearly you could. With @SwindonCanary and @paul moy regularly giving false information on the EU vaccine roll out thought it worth updating you on the true developments. Yesterday they approved the single dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine and they will receive 200 million doses over the next couple of months. They are set to approve 4 more vaccines over the next 6 weeks. Last month despite what mad moy tells you being a major manufacturer in the world they exported 9 million doses to us in the UK. Yesterday they crashed through the 1.25 million in a day barrier and are increasing their daily doses rapidly. They will likely at this rate be approaching 2 million by the end of the month. This is very good news for us to as it means our close neighbours will be vaccinated and that ensures the world will also be moving on.

Indeed Tomorrow we are giving 1000 AZ doses, and thanks to people like mad moy this will be a hard sell. Denmark ( and 5 other countries ) have said it is highly unlikely to be the vaccine, but under their regulatory rules they must confirm this is the case. You may remember it was suspended before due to an adverse situation in the trials. Even Raab has backed the regulatory decision of Denmark. If ( highly unlikely ) there was proved a connection mad moy would be telling us they did nothing about it. Norway in December suspended Pfizer for ten days and Moy was telling everybody that would listen there was a possibility of adverse side effects to get at the EU.
