  1. One of the main reasons the club chose, and enjoys a good relationship with Errea is that they are an ethically sound company. All their products are produced in their own factory in Parma where employers are paid fair wages and materials are responsibly sourced. It also allows them to have a far greater influence over the final design instead of choosing from a handful of templates. Why wish to be like everyone else? We are Norwich, we do things differently!
  2. Why would people go and queue when you can go online and order in seconds? I understand that some people don’t have computers etc. but surely not that many that a big queue would form? Or are we really that backward?
  3. The new kit has already been designed and will be released in the summer. The designer is the same as the last one and this will be his second Norwich shirt. I met him recently and its safe to say he is very excited with his new design!
  4. I have one spare Brighton ticket. Face value, can meet at the ground.
  5. I have to be careful what i say on here... But seriously, everyone is welcome to come along for some pre-match beers. I am bringing about 5-6 down from Norwich for the day and hope to get some more along. Brighton is a bit funny for away days in that its probably similar to visiting Millwall in that you can base yourself near the train station and trvael up. However, as good as some pubs are in that area they are pretty small and can be very expensive. The train can be a bit of a scrum as well. Its not too far from the station https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Preston+Brewery+Tap/@50.842224,-0.1511207,15z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0xc962c25fdef88cce
  6. Head to the Preston Brewery Tap a short distance north of the centre. Its not an obvious location butthe landlord is family and has promised a warm welcome for all Norwich fans. From there taxis can easily be arranged to get to the ground in a short time.
  7. a couple of friens can no longer make the game today and as a result I have 2 spare tickets together in great seats in the Jarrold. Anyone interested?
  8. More to see on these highlights...   http://www1.skysports.com/watch/video/9731810/blackburn-1-2-norwich
  9. Oh and despite what many think, we do not sell out all our games. Perhaps that was the case in the Premier League where we had a more consistent away support visiting. For nearly every home match this sesason there are 1,000-2,000 casual tickets available to fans. They do not get all snapped up. In part because they are considered by many to be too expensive. If we are serious about the growth of the club then we should reduce prices, increase demand and expand the stadium. We are a rapidly growing city with a potentially vast fanbse which we are not encouraging to get involved very well at all.
  10. So what if the press spin it on us? The issue is football wide and its fans from every club which will suffer evermore if this carries on. I’m sure McNally etc will spin it to good effect. Premier League clubs that got a bad reputation in recent years have begun to be more reasonable with their pricing, regardless of attendances. Arsenal for example charged us £40 for are visit in the first season of our recent Premier League stint. The following two seasons that was reduced to £25.   I’d rather we received a bit of ‘bad press’ if it meant we helped sort things for the better by reforming the way we do things!   I have to fully agree with Bethnal on this one, it’s not a them and us scenario, it’s only an us – proper football fans who actually go to games up and down the country.
  11. Just had a read of this articale, pretty much spot on! Pretty sure the author must have had a dew reads of this thread... http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter.com/2015/02/19/a-confident-johnson-is-an-effective-johnson-and-right-now-neil-has-it-at-his-disposal-in-spades/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
  12. Morty, I sit elsewhere but because I share my actual season ticket with family I have become something of a Carrow Road tourist in recent seasons. I have sat in pretty much every part of the ground over the last few years as I have had to grab what tickets I could. I must say that my overriding memory of the Upper Barclay was sitting in between two old times who kept offering me sweets, very pleasant chaps!   Hogsear, I think he has been out of managers 1st choice plans at times, but injuries and his resilience, attitude and effort have meant he promptly returns. My hope is that what we are seeing now is not just him ‘finding his level’ and that as we hopefully progress, so does he. One of my biggest disappointments in recent years was Andrew Croft’s failure to step up when in the Premier League, partly because Johnson out performed him. I desperately wanted Crofts to be our key midfield man in the Prem!
  13. No, its about actually knowing your football, and knowing what you are talking about. Its about making an informed opinion, based on actually going to games and seeing the whole picture. And not losing your * because the players stats fall short of your expectations.   Re: This, got to be one of the most frustrating parts of being at games, the awful ignorant screams that bellow out from behind me. I have heard a lot from my position at Carrow Road over the years, and seem to hear more of it away from home recently. Not so much the stats part but the “losing your * ” part…   Over the years players may frustrate me at times but I resist out and out abuse or heckling, for example I sometimes say to myself ‘Johnson you tart’ under my breath (just to keep on theme!).   Last week at Charlton when at 2-2 and under pressure to wrestle back our control of the game Redmond received an early ball on the halfway line, tried to beat the full back and charge down the wing. Unfortunately he failed and the full back took it clean off him. From the middle of a group of 3-5 middle aged chaps (I am being generous with this description) behind me scream “REDMOND YOU USELES C U NEXT TUESDAY” as loud as possible.   This angered me greatly to say the least and I wanted to tell him what I thought of his methods of “supporting” our club but decided it better I carry on cheering and belting out OTBC etc as loudly as possible.   Does anyone ever tell other “supporters” to wind their horrible necks in, or more?   I did get one of our “fans” removed from the Emirates once but that was for pretty abohrant racist taunting of another fan. I know people will say guff like “I pay my money and am entitled to an opinion” etc, but that abuse of Redmond is not necessary!   For the record, Redmond was knackered and was subbed off about 2 minutes after the abuse.
  14. Okay I had left the thread as I had exhausted my points and had some good debate with others, however in light of the recent news I have a few thoughts to add.   Firstly, I am very happy about the news, as most of you are all saying he is being duly rewarded for his recent performances. He is clearly playing better in general than he has at times in the past, albeit in a slightly modified role to his original position in the middle.   Regarding comments above about him being consistently being picked by a succession of coaches, whilst this is true on the whole it does not quite tell the whole story. Last season for example, we had Howson, Tettey and more notably Fer ahead of him in the pecking order. Consider as well that Pilkington, Bennett and Redmond are also there to fill a midfield 4 or 5 to provide some form of width, with Hoolahan as well in the mix. So to say that managers have continually had him at the top of their list is not quite true. What is true, and all credit to him for this is that he is seemingly never injured, knocking on the door for selection! All the players mentioned above have suffered injury at some point allowing him a route back into the team. He has never gone more than a handful of games without being a starter. So far play to Johnson, he seems to take getting knocked back as a chance to come back harder!   If we believe stories about managers coming in for him from Premier League clubs then all the more credit for sticking with us. He is a North London boy and that’s where his heart and family are, indeed he spends a lot of his free time that way. It could have been very easy to move to a club making that part of his life easier. But no, he has shown commitment which is now being rewarded with goals, performances and adulation from fans.   I am looking forward to seeing how Dorrans fits in within our squad, especially considering he is generally a wide player. Redmond is possibly the most terrifying winger defenders will face in this league in terms of skill and pace and is hard to drop as a result. Tettey and Howson in the middle also appears to be by far our best central pairing. Hooper/Hoolahan/Andreu now are all taking turns (Hooper as No.1) playing the central no.10 role. Therefore in my eyes it appears at least the Johnson and Dorrans will be fighting for the same spot, at least some of the time. I like this scenario very much! Dorrans is a player I rate very highly as he always appeared to be one of the better West Brom players of the past few seasons, appearing as a naturally gifted player with a great work ethic. He should be eager to make his mark on his time with us a he is most probably here with a long term view to securing a longer term Premier League contract with us next season. As mentioned above though, Johnson will seemingly take this as a challenge to improve even further and make himself un-droppable!   What we do have is great options. There will be games where Johnson’s strength will be preferable to Dorrans guile, and vice-versa. I am hoping whether it be Johnson kicking on, or Dorrans coming in and offering something different, we have the squad to see us to the top.
  15. I said pretty much the same thing when that particular goal went in. Olsson was so unhappy that he immediately collapsed backwards and started waving his arms skyward in anger!
  16. “Sounds like confirmation bias to me. Looking at the Wolves game, I don''t see how you could find 6anything frustrating in Johnson''s performance unless you were pre-disposed to doing so.”   I saw him give the ball away at least twice by chipping balls to no one in the corner when under no real pressure. You may not notice this so much as he has not been as frequent at doing so recently. This is my key point, and he is indeed improving, I have never disputed this (although I could by cynical and point out we are now playing at a lower level) he needs to keep things simple more often and play within his own limitations at times.   In terms of other players missing chances, making mistakes etc I know, of course they have / do. This thread is about Johnson and I am of the opinion that he still needs to do more for me to consider him out POTS. That’s not to say I don’t think he is doing really well at the moment. However his performances, despite the goals have not been as great as some make out!   I like Tettey because he knows his task and he generally executes it very well, of course not always perfectly.   I believe if we had a fully fit Johnny Howson for a whole season then he would be POTS.   There just seems to be something that draws some of you in to the Brad Love Zone!   Anyway, good discussion on the whole. I’m out now…   If anyone wants to discuss more over a pint at Watford then give me a shout!
  17. Agreed. However, I have not been comparing Johnson with Redmond or wingers. I did pose the question as to whom people might prefer if Snodgrass or Dorrans were here but no one replied.   My point as originally stated is that I think some fans overplay his contributions as he appears to try the hardest. A great example is someone selecting him over Tettey for Saturday’s MOTM when Tettey put in the best performance of any midfielder this season. Yes Johnson got a goal, but it was from a corner, any player regardless of performance can nod a ball in from 7 yards.   Johnson for me does what is expected of him as a midfielder most of the time and beside the goals this season, not much else! I do agree however that whatever it is he is doing at the moment is working and long may it continue.   The thread was originally about praising his recent performances and I am simply of the opinion that they are perhaps not as good as they seem, case in point being the earlier reference to the Bournemouth game in which he ‘orchestrated the win’ – not true! I really think that fans fall for him in a way they don’t for other players because he appears to try harder. Perhaps it’s partly filling the huge Grant Holt shaped void in our hearts? The ultimate Canary mix of attitude, effort and ability?
  18. How is it ludicrous? If a fan see’s a player score goals regularly, is it not plausible that they will consider them with more esteem than fans that don’t? That is the point I was trying to raise, which you have kind of answered in suggesting that he is able to play a more attacking style of game at home. I really don’t think it’s ludicrous at all, why the hyperbole? It’s simply a question of how opinions may be gauged / formed.
  19. “he basically orchestrated recent away wins over Bournemouth and Charlton” – Not sure I can quite agree with that! He did well against Charlton and made two telling contributions for the goals, he also missed a real guilt edged chance when put on a plate by Hooper and nearly got so worked up following a coming together that he was sent off.   Whilst I agree he contributed tellingly to good things happening at Bournemouth, he also failed miserably for Bournemouth’s goal. It was he who allowed Ritchie a clear shot for his goal, seemingly unaware or unable to spot/deal with the danger of an on rushing wide player. This is an example of one of the aspects of his game that people overlook / don’t notice, perhaps because of his effort. It’s rare that goals conceded away from home caused by such basic lapses can be recovered from. But fair play, he did do well covering ground when Howson was (ridiculous decision) sent off.   In terms of creativity then Howson is the key man for that in our squad now, but of course success comes as a result of the whole team playing well and Johnson is certainly contributing significantly, although perhaps not as significantly as others perceive.   Buh, why does this remind you of that situation? Not sure I see the similarity?
  20. Having now bought and indeed read the Pink’un pull out in today’s EDP I can confirm that Tettey was given a 9/10 rating with Johnson and Grabban both getting 8/10, high scores indeed! I am not sure I recall seeing many 9/10’s this season, if ever so Tettey was a clear MOTM in the eyes of the local press. They do also heap praise on Johnson, as they do pretty much all of the team and management. How very nice to be able to savour such a satisfying win! Not having a dig, but if Johnson had taken all of his very presentable (I know this can be said of many but they were clear cut chances) chances in the last two games he would be our top scorer.
  21. I did not say he was up to much in away games, simply stating that the vast majority og his goals this term have been scored at home this season which may encourage home fans to value him more than fans who see only away, or home and away games. Its hard to have a reasoned discussion on here if people twist what i say everytime. Anyway, i am off to buy an EDP now and admire Bradley''s cracking barnet. It really does work well with this years kit...
  22. Nutty, I had a feeling you would reply as such! I am in no way saying my opinion is better than yours. As I said in my post, it is a question I raised as a result of noticing that 77% of his goals this season have been scored at Carrow Road. Point being, does the sight of a player scoring goals regularly help to endear them to fans. The percentage of games in which I have seen Johnson score, as a regular away fan is therefore way lower than home only fans. Nowhere in this post am I trying to suggest or insinuate that I am a better fan than others, merely attempting to engage in a reasoned debate. I am so far pleasantly surprised considering the first response to my initial post couldn’t resist suggesting I tried to chat up Johnson because I am from Brighton (I’m not from Brighton)! Anyway, I am not trying to suggest he is rubbish, I can see he has improved this season. However, we are playing at a lower level which could suggest he is playing at a level better suited to his attributes. I do wonder what will happen when we have another midfield option however, as for me Tettey and Howson have to start in the middle when available. What happens when/if we ever see a fully fit Vadis or when/if Dorrans comes on loan? I personally believe it would be Johnson to make way at some point as he is better suited to playing out wide, however I do think an immediate switch would be harsh. For all his efforts, abilities and goals, Dorrans could be the extra bit of attacking quality we need to see us over the line come the end of the season. All hypothetical of course…
  23. Here’s another potentially interesting point for those who disagree with my opinion, Bradley Johnson has scored 7 of his 8 goals at Carrow Road this season. How many of you posting within this thread attend any away games?   Could our differing opinions be stemming from the range of matches we have seen him play in? A home victory can appear very different to an away performance. For the record I have only missed a handful of home and away matches in the last 6-7 years.
  24. Not a hatchet job! Just stating my opinion… I think he is doing very well at the moment but there are still limitations to his game which frustrate me in every match.   Not sure why you are bringing in a game from over a year ago? Tettey made a mistake, as has every player. How about the time Johnson let Gareth McCleary run straight past him when playing Reading two seasons ago resulting in a goal?   I’m guessing you mean the MOTM VS Wolves should be based solely on Saturday? In which case for me MOTM VS Wolves is this; Tettey; Grabban; Johnson.   Anyone bought today’s EDP yet to see who they gave their MOTM to?
