You call it reading between the lines - I call it sophistry, you are twisting the words to suit your own point of view on the subject. A club with more class would not resort to banging on about being a bigger club and I''m not expecting you to apologise for it either.

None of us know definitively if there was any prior approach to Lambert, however, the whole thing stinks of it, surely even the most diehard NCFC fan can see that. McNally and Lambert have known each other for some time, NCFC approach CUFC to appoint him, not to request permission to talk to him but to appoint him (funnily enough, only a week after he was actually at your ground) and after we gave conditional permission for him to talk to you he decided that he''d resign, we can assume safe in the knowledge that he had a job to go to (also applies to Culverhouse and Karsa). All will come out in the wash though.

Knowing that a compensation agreement would not be settled in a short space of time, Lambert resigned (whether off his own back or at the suggestion of NCFC I doubt we shall ever know). Those two points will be the cases that are presented at the tribunal I would think. Your quote is wrong by the way - if you read our offical statement it actually says "The FDC has power to award Colchester compensation and deduct points from Norwich, a remedy which we are advised might be particulary relevant in this case" Doesn''t say anything about "we think a points deduction is appropriate" at all, merely points out the options the FDC have and that we have been advised that a points deduction could be relevant in this instance.

Ah, the usual messageboard replies start to surface now........ the one''s with no constructive points to make and a shocking disregard for the English language. As one of the more realistic members of your forum pointed out, the problem stems from compensation not being agreed before Lambert became your manager. This is why there has been 6 months worth of haggling between the clubs and why, as there has been no resolution, the tribunal has been invoked. They will decide the rights or wrongs of everyones actions and decide how much compensation is due and also if any further action against NCFC should be handed out. The sad thing is that if your club have acted wrongly, then most of you seem to completely condone the fact, which to followers of the U''s just seems like arrogance........

Mike x [/quote] I don''t feel the need to have a word with our Chairman, as I think he realised that Lambert had already decided to join Norwich (slightly given away by the fact that they approached Colchester to appoint him - not to ask permission to talk to him - what, no interview??) and actually said he could talk to you but nothing was to happen until compensation had been agreed. It was at that point that Lambert walked out (taking Culverhouse and Karsa with him) and this was where the problems started. Colchester is an attractive place for young managers to come to (Phil Parkinson, Lambert, Aidy B for example), unfortunately for us, in Lambert''s case it was just seen as a stepping stone towards his ultimate goal of managing Celtic or Scotland no doubt. I realise that managers move on, same as players do, this has always been a fact of life when supporting a club like Colchester and I''m not bleating about Lambert leaving as such - more because of the high and mighty attitude of larger clubs who think that they can do as they please. As for potential, don''t make me chuckle....... the only potential you have is to get back to where you once were and where you obviously think you have some god-given right to be. Let''s face it - Lambshank has a loooot of work to do.... The only reason you are not bottom after 3 games is because a) Brighton had their ''keeper sent off and b) because Southampton started of on -10 I reckon Cambridge would probably do a job on you anyway to be fair .........

I doubt our team will "fall apart" at all. If it does, then it won''t be because our players have followed the Messiah to Norfolk that''s for sure (not this season anyway due to the clause that;s going to be part of the compensation) I have serious doubts that many would want to follow him, purely for the way in which he has treated well respected members of our squad.

However, I do wish Paul Lambert nothing but the worst of luck and absolutely no success at all and if that means that your club is heading for a fall then so be it. You will soon realise what a mercenary tool Lambchop is - hell, he even said in his first interview yesterday that he doesn''t take much notice of contracts!!!
