1.
And what was your strongest memory of it. I''m just curious as to the rough ages of posters on here. For me, I have one or two strong memories from that period,  like Ken Netherccott our goalie at the time, playing most of game with a dislocated shoulder at Bramwell Lane and making a string of one handed saves during the game. And the replay at Carrow Road, when an virtually unknown Sandy Kennon took over his place in that barn storming victory over the Blades. And who can forget Terry ''The Count'' goals?. People who were there know who I mean!. Or beating Man U in a snow covered Carrow Road. I was at the Luton semi final games where we were cheated by the officials and failed to get to Wembly, however, try as I might, I can''t recall anything of the first game. Just reading this back has upset me a little, such bitter sweet memories, a few of the older blokes I went with (I was only a lad) died years ago, but I can still see their smiling faces, and I miss them all terribly.[:''(] So where you there? and what do you remember?.
I remember it well but i was in the armed forces at the time and based in Cyprus but my old Sgt was a big City fan too and we used to get updates from the RAF boys based a few miles away. Still seems only thhe other week and excellent memories of being a city fan, im geting a little emotional too!!
 2.

Does anyone else know anyone who has given up their season tickets,my mate only got a half year one in the promotion season cos they were doing well.He gave it up this season because he couldn''t get used to not seeing premiership football(sic).I bet more than 80% of the non renewals came from the half season jump on the bandwagon fans, can anyone prove otherwise
Arthur Whittle said he''s sold his last week, but presume he means just for this season.
I did sell mine the other day after having one for 35 years to my sons friend whos now moved back to norfolk from the states. To be honest i was thinking about it last season as i feel im just getting to old for it all and would rather spend time with my granchildren but imo the board made that decision all to easy for me this time round . But im sure i''ll miss the buzz and as my wife keeps telling me i''ll no doubt renew it next season.
 3.

Yes but he''s a free so would just be another journeyman bargain basement player. Wouldn''t he? Oh no silly me, he''s gone to another club on a free which makes him a good player. If they come to norwich on a free they are useless. Yes i get it now.
Lee Hendrie is PROVEN quality and to suggest otherwise is imo is silly. I personally think he would of been perfect to give the club that much needed big name signing almost like huckerby when we got him.
To be honest Arthur that wasn''t really aimed at you, and I agree he does have a decent record. However it is impossible and unrealistic to sign only proven players. Everyone has to start their career, or english career somewhere so why not here? One of my biggest frustrations with worthy was his incessant use of poor loans, and lack of scouting. It has been far to long since we ''found'' a good player from either the lower leagues, or abroad (or even Scotland!). THe fact that we are doing this again is a positive, and i simply cannot view it any other way. Its a reality for a club like us that a good and wide ranging scouting network is vital, our survival is based much much more on finding younger players developing a career than picking up guys that are coming towards the end of their time in the game.
I couldnt agree with you more about finding young talent but i was suggesting that a player of Hendries quality would of been just the tonic for the club, board and supporters alike.it would of gave an element of feel good factor, albeit an expensive one but with his quality i feel it would of been worth that risk.
Would I have been happy to see him here? Probably. My concern is that he seems to be turning into a stick to beat the board with, which is nonsensical. We have no idea what so ever if Gunn, or Duffy or Grant rang his agent, or the player himself to pitch the idea to him and got turned down. Turned down for one of a dozen reasons that we as a club have little impact on. Or maybe he wanted more in wages than Grant wanted to give him out of his budget, or maybe Grant thought he could find someone better, or maybe Grant just didn''t fancy him at all. Hendrie is a player and so the decision on whether he comes here or not will be Grant''s in the first instance, and its unfair for some posters to hold up this one, single player, as some kind of failing by board/club/manager in the midst of all the things that HAVE been done right recently. Again I largely agree with your points (though I think the feel good would of been much lower than with Hucks) I just question if we need a thread to discuss why this particular free agent has gone elsewhere, and to (for some people) attempt to cause ill feeling.
Agreed its all by the by now anyway.
 4.
I challenge Smudge in another thread when he said we wouldn''t finish higher than 16th this season... he didn''t take it up - I don''t expect him to, but I''m willing to bet up to £100 that we finish 15th or higher... offer is still open Smudge! Personally, I think the guy is a wind up merchant and has a great deal of laughs when he knowing makes inciteful posts and watches everyone jump to the bait. He is probably a mad keen, really positive Norwich City supporter in really life, who attends every game and has pictures of Delia hanging on his wall (well, don''t we ALL!?), for all we know!
I dont think for one minute smudge is a wind up. Ive always been passionate about the club and everything Norwich for that matter but i dont always think by not agreeing with the board in the way they do things makes him a lesser supporter than anyone else. Keep it up smudge even if we were top of the prem the club would still face certain issues and its the likes of you that will keep people on there toes mate.

 6.

I hope the boy does well but it''s funny how people have suddenly forgotten the promise to spend the Etuhu transfer money. I suppose this lad is likely to cost us similar wages to what we would have been paying Dickson. Therefore where has the £1.5 million gone.
Who says there''s not more to come...
Silly i know but if history has a say it it i wouldnt hold my breath!

 8.

You seem to suggest im a wind up yet i notice 1st Wizard hasnt been singled out for his ridiculous change from anti to pro-is this because it suits your opions.
Mr Whittle: A short history lesson as I don''t recall you being on here at the time. The 1st wizard was created by me as a vent for my anger during the Worthy days, and I''m record as saying that if he was sacked or left then I would probably kill'' wiz off..........so watch out for the anouncement. I can see, even if you can''t, that since PG came here, there is a real glimer of hope in the club that had missing under the Worthy regime, why on earth would/should I continue to crictise the club when I can sense that buzz?, how the hell can I continue to rant at the club when I wouldn''t believe in what I was saying?. I thought I had made the above perfectly clear, others posters had grasped it, although a few have given me a bit of grief over it, so I haven''t escaped being crictisied! I wish you well, but we''re poles apart in our thinking..................thank God!.
Sorry 1st Wiz if my thread came across as offensive towards you bu it isnt meant like that, i used you purely as an example how people will ridicule me to suit there opinions and back others who have changed to suit those said people. I wish you well too sir and like the old saying goes ''''i may not like what you say but i like the fact you can say it'''' Regards.
 9.

Its my opinion just like its yours
Well, that''s the thing Arthur, all you offer is an opinion.  You don''t offer an alternative.  If you offer no alternative to what we already have, how do you expect to gain support from fellow fans ?
How do you expect me to come up with alternatives? Im one fan. But how did other clubs get out of these situations? was by sitting there doing nothing? im sick of this ''''Give us alternative Arthur'''' BS. It seems its all you have against my stand against the board. I see things different to you but if the time comes where an ''''Alternative'''' was needed would you sit there still thinking that we are better off with this lot? Did you have an alternative when Chase was booted out? did anyone think of an alternative? I didnt i just wanted him out and then we could cross that bridge when we got to it. That how i few this board now. There are lots of willing investors in this sport its clear to see, so it would be a little naive to think nobody would be interested.

 11.
Just a few anagrams for ''Arthur Whittle''........ HAT HURLER TWIT WHAT TRITE HURL HALT WRITE HURT HA TWITTER HURL (All courtesy of Wordsmith.org) Don''t know what my point is but then again................
Excellent, school finished today lets all play. Now IN  THE BLOOD...hmmmm Bone hold it, Behind Tool delias little lamb -made that one up.
 12.
So, Arthur, by my (conditionally) backing of the Board, I am contributing myself to the downfall and decline of our football club, and, to prove myself as a "genuine" supporter, I should rally to the flag of the board -and, by definition, the club as a wholes- detractors and demand wholesale removal and change, starting with their own? Well bugger-guess I am going to be contributing to the downfall and decline of the club throughout the coming season then! Mind you, at least when you takeover, you can sack all of the fans like me, we won''t be allowed to support and watch the team anymore, maybe you''ll confiscate my season ticket and make me give my shares to someone more deserving? As 7rew said-what you are constantly saying is no longer a solution or even an option, its just a slogan.
but its ok for me to constantly be told that my actions/opinions are only harming the club is it? Its my opinion just like its yours so id leave out the sarcasms please my friend.
 13.
Wayne tells us that ''Arthur is the true voice of NCFC supporters''  does he speak for you? I haven''t bothered getting involved with this before but theres no way I want to be associated with his incessant drivel! I''ll start it off with a big fat NO! Anyone else?
Firstly i would like to ask wayne to refrain from using me  your opinions. Thanks Secondly i couldnt give a monkeys whether everyone thinks im the voice or not, i will continue to say what I believe.
 14.

If you read my post I asked "did it ever cross your mind" it wasnt a statement of fact more an alternative reason. Much like the supposition that "Etuhu wanted Premiership football", or "Etuhu didnt settle in Norfolk", much like "Etuhu really wanted to play for Keane" or even "Sunderland offered 3 times the wages Norwich did" etc etc. Not statements of fact, proposals, possibilites. Shades of grey with maybe, i would suggest, an element of truth in all. The point was that much like life you cannot attribute everything that happens down to one or two individuals to suit a one-sided agenda. It just aint black and white.  Certainly not if you had a reasoned  sense of proportionality. Your assertion that my post was backing the board shows how you will twist any questioning of your position as being unquestionably supportive of the current regime. Quite frankly it is the sanctinimonious drivel you keep spouting that is the joke. You''re the guy suggesting he may give up his season ticket, so its blatant hypocrisy in the extreme to start accusing me of ''doing damage to our club''. I wish life was black and white Arthur it would be far simpler but frankly far more boring.  The freedom of speech (Archant?) we enjoy on these boards is a great thing, its just a shame its wasted on your purile and cancerous campaign. OTBC
First of all i follow the badge and if i feel the players/board or manager deserve my support then i will support those indivduals aswell thats why i am currently pondering if i should sell my ticket even though its not doing the club any good short term, i feel it would in the long term. Secondly i believe that you are fully backing the board as you have already told me to ''''CUT THE CRAP ITS NOT DELIAS DOING''''  By all means keep buying your season tickets only for us to end up mid table yet again,IMO thats why Delia and co are all self made millionaires cos people like you will listen to anything they say.
Mr Whittle, So if you were that upset with the Club etc, then why have you not already sold your season ticket to someone who is waiting for one?  Once again you avoid answering.  Why don''t you take the example that Smudger has set and don''t go, and sell your season ticket? I personally think you are on a wind up mission and are all talk.  I see post after post from you constantly moaning how the board is this and that and yet what have you done to show your displeasure?  ....... that''s right nothing AFAIK.  Can you PLEASE answer my question, as no one else either will or can and tell me if the CE, Board and Manager were to go who would take their places?????? At least Smudger, is proactive and sticks by what he means (even though I dont agree with it).
Ive sold my seaon ticket today after the glorious long term replacemnet, the international superstar Jimmy Smith. Its a clear case of the blind seeing what they want with a lot of people on here., so my son will be sitting next to his best mate this coming season. You seem to suggest im a wind up yet i notice 1st Wizard hasnt been singled out for his ridiculous change from anti to pro-is this because it suits your opions.
 15. Yes i am in the paper again, and i will continue to voice my beliefs, untill this board starts to consider selling its shares to people outside of Norfolk.
 16.

"Ethuhu had a dental problem". Proof of yet more lies by the board, the lack of respect they show fans is appalling.
Oh grow up. "Oooh Mummy that nasty Mr Doncaster told me a fib and stole my lunch money to be used to fix the tuck shop". Rumour has it (at least it''s been posted on WOTB) that we were in negotiations to buy another player and that we were trying to keep the sale of Etuhu quiet to stop the selling club raising the transfer fee. Hence the little fib about his "dental problem".
I love it!!!!!

 18.

It is a fact of life, not the board''s fault. We are NOT a big club and richer clubs have always taken our better players.  For players it is a job and if they have any hunger and ambition at all they will follow the money and the higher standard of football. The only way to stop it happening is to make sure we sign rubbish players who the better teams won''t want.   But then I suppose you''d moan about the board if they did that too.   How about you suggest something realistic that the board could do that they are not?
The truth would be a bloody good start!
You can''t take the truth. The truth is we''re a selling club, always have been. Get used to it. The truth is players have the power, they go where the money is, we don''t have a lot of money. end of story. Stop trying to make out the situation is something different. Until you and your ilk are prepared to invest your own money and buy the club, tough.
Oh i can take the truth mate, maybe you should wake up to the facts. Either the board have lied or they have issued a very clever well worded statement with regards to the sales of our most prominent players. ''''WE DO NOT NEED TO SELL ANY PLAYERS'''' Would suggest a clear sign of ambition only for us to find out [after season ticket sales i might add] that if any club comes in for any player worth his salt they will have to sell. Im not sure whos the bigger sucker...Me for falling for the crap the board has spun us again or you for actually still backing them!!! Personally i think its you cos ive seen them for what they are and its not far short of criminal and i make no appologies for saying it and you are IMO doing all the good work for the board and in the mean time taking us further backwards.
 19.
No one will agree with you either untill you start telling the truth. You too LIE. The club said that it does not NEED to sell not that they will not sell. With Etuhu and Earnie this is out of their hands to some extent and at least they tried to keep Etuhu by offering a new contract. At this time some clubs are being inspected for dodgy deals - why oh why is no one looking at these two. Two offers of bang on the money have come in for these players - seems suspect to me. The only player you could claim to have been forced out of the club is Safri. The strange thing is a lot of people on here predicted that Safri and Earnshaw would be on their way in the summer. Now that its looking to be true people can''t quite believe their own words. I am totally gutted - I really am. But its difficult to know who to blame. You can blame the board if you like, if you think you have enough evidence to blame them. Personaly I blame the last manager for making such a pigs-ear of the contracts.
So they said "does not need to sell", they may aswell have put "renew your season tickets but we are selling our assists anyway". If you really believe the club when they say Dickson had a dodgy tooth and wasnt in sunderland sorting out personal terms as every other media outlet claims im afriad to say you must be gullable!

Ultimately the board employed worthless and carried on doing so even when they new his time was up because as usual they swept it under the carpet hoping things would get better so i think you will find the blame still goes to the board. I honestly cant believe ther are people like you still backing the untouchables... you couldnt make it up!!!!!
 21. Calling me a liar because you believe the boards re-worded crap eh? Those that believe the spin, i hope the sand your head is stuck in tastes nice this time of year.
 22.

and i quote from the Hucks story on the front of this page The £3.5m sale of Earnshaw supplemented the £2m interest free-loan from new directors Andrew and Sharon Turner, which guaranteed no players had to be sold. isn''t that untrue? if it gaurentees no players had to be sold then what about Etuhu, Earnie and Saffs. At least base the articles on what is currently going on rather than on some b***ox spouted by the chairman a few months ago! jas :)
Come on Archant? Come on Jas! You are ingoring the context - we all know the guarantee is that no player has to be sold for financial reasons, to balance the books. We all know full well why they were sold - not to balance the books but because of those release clauses. There is nothing the club can do in the event that these clauses are triggered by the offering clubs. All that can save the situation once this happens is that the player refuses to leave. And no player is going to turn down premiership football.
fair comment but then why say "we dont have to sell" when we do! the clauses dictate we do! saying otherwise is both not reporting fact, and leading people astray. the club said we didnt need to sell which was a joke in itself. when 2 players (who knows maybe more) have clauses then why make a statement indicating we wont be selling anyone?  jas :)
Well said Jas, glad to see one of the most if not the most intelligent posters on here is seeing through this sham!
 23.
Great post Arthur, possibly the most sensible thing i have read from you. I for one would like to start a collection to buy Arthurs ticket. In fact throw in your PC as well...... Did it ever cross your mind that Etuhu has had enough of ''fans'' whining at his performances and has (or his agent has engineered) a move away? Of course not, that would''nt fit with your agenda would it? I am not happy that Etuhu looks likely to leave but cut the c@@p it aint delias making.
This post in my eyes is the best yet! so dickson wanted out? spot on mate i would too if the club was ran in such a way this one is. I agree Dickson did need to feel wanted but to suggest its the fans fault is ridiculous. he knew that the fans were warming to him and its utter BS imo to suggest otherwise. Come on mate wake up. We''ve sold more season tickets then alot of clubs in the prem and sold our backbone straight after and you can still back the board? i think you will find its the likes of you who are doing more damage to our club then me old friend. Bloody joke!!!
 24.
I keep reading posts by people moaning about the board selling players and what not, which i dont really understand. Both Earnshaw and Etuhu have release clauses in their contract, the club AT THIS STAGE has no say on whether the players stays or not, once that minimum fee has been met. Whether you want to blame the board for having such clauses in their contract is up to you, but you wouldnt have got these players with out them. The board can''t win. If they dont get players in, they get moaned at. If they introduce clauses that enable them to get said players in, they get moaned at. The players have chosen to leave and this situation/these clauses are the nature of the beast these days. For every Cureton there are 10 earnshaws......
If they want get out clauses then they are not 100% commited so dont sign them and dont be held to ransom!
