1.
Radio Norfolk suggested this afternoon that Martin O''Neill had contacted the club to recommend Lambert.
Even better if true. I''m sure O''Neill wouldn''t get involved if he didn''t rate Lambert highly as a manager. Paul Lambert''s Green and Yellow Army
 2. I''ve read a lot of negativity on this message board today and, although it doesn''t surprise me, I''m a little dissappointed in fellow fans who are not willing to give a new manager a chance and their full backing! We are all entitled to our own opinions and can draw our own conclusions as to the reasons for this appointment but I genuinely think it is a great appointment. I thought this might bring a little optimism back to this board and the fans! For the first time in a long while we appear to have appointed a manager with real ambition. This reminds me of the Martin O''Neill appointment back in 1995 and if this guy is half as good as O''Neill we will be doing OK. Maybe just maybe this guy is the one to take us forward...
 3. Usually do a small stake accumulator of around 8-10 teams on a Saturday morning. Came in a couple of times last season and won over £100 twice for a £1 stake - just a fun bet really and keeps the interest there! A win usually covers the stake over the season too which is nice! At the game I''ll go for a scorecast, again only small stakes. Tomorrow''s bet: Holt 1st Goal 3-0 £2 Stake Nelson Last Goal 3-0 £2 Stake
 4. I also wonder if the 1 year deal is about Maric seeing how well he adapts to the English game. I understand he doesn''t speak any English and this must be quite daunting coming into a new club in a new league. Perhaps he just wants a get out clause if things don''t work out? If everything is OK on both sides, he signs on for a further 1-2 years... just an idea.
 5.

Gorleston cliff top gala is the place to be on Saturday
Any Monkey Spanner this year?
Not sure about Monkey Spanner but RiVERS are playing. That''s where I''ll be after the game!
 6.

"Playing" is a bit of an exaggeration though. By and large the only time Shackell and Lee played last year was for us...neither were wanted by their actual clubs. I''d take Maric over Lee, as I think the latter would cost more and is the wrong side of 30. Can''t comment on Askou, but I''ve heard good things.
I must have wandered into Cloud Cuckoo Land! You would seriously take an (effectively) non-league Spanish player over Alan Lee? All you''ve seen of him is a few minutes (if you were in Scotland) and a youtube video. Do you not remember Le Juge!? Also, I think you''ll find both Shackell and Lee will be playing Championship football somewhere next season. As I say, I''m all for giving these lads a chance but just signing players does not make a good team!
Considering Maric is younger, will cost less, will be on less wages, and has a different style of play to Lee, yes I would. We''ve already got an "Alan Lee type player" signed up for next season in Grant Holt. Holt''s fee shows we probably could afford Lee (despite what Gunn''s aluded to), we simply decided Grant Holt would be a better alternative. I''ve not seen Maric live, nor have I watched youtube clips of him, but yes, with the information I do have, I believe we need a player like him rather than a battler in the Lee mould - which I highlighed in the above paragraph. What makes you think Lee and Shackell will play regualr football next year? We were pretty much the only club interested last year, and both their current clubs want rid.
Spot on!!  Some people won''t be happy until we pay 500k for another Cureton or 1M for another Marshall only to lose money on both a year or two down the line when they''ve let the team down week in, week out for the duration of their time at the club!! Why would we want to go for another freebie like Clingan, who could actually play football and who had that little bit of quality? Why would we want to have to risk selling him for 650k in 12 months with the potential to make 1M? Freebies are such a waste of money and will never get us anywhere. Lets go get some more Curetons or David Marshall type players.
Coco the clown wouldn''t want to sign for us though would he? We are where we are. We can''t sign Robinho, we can''t even get Owen on a free. We have to take what we can get and I''m prepared to give players who want to move to England to further their career a chance. They may fail but so what...what does that cost us? Afterall, we have the ''proven'' Jamie Cureton to fall back on. A player who scores consistently at higher leagues than ours! OR maybe, we get a player that scores a lot of goals and goes on to earn us a fee 24 months down the line; as is the Norwich way. With Cureton long gone, after failing to hit a barn door all season in training. Just give them a chance to fail before writing them off.

Players that are nowhere near as good as the in demand Shackell and Lee. I personally like Shackell and Lee but I am prepared to keep an open mind about two players who want to move to England to further their careers. Just give them a chance. By all means slate Askou when he constantly fails to get close to the oposing centre forward or when Maric fails to hit that barn door that Jamie keeps trying to hit too. BUT just give them a chance before you decide they are no good because we haven''t paid millions for them or because Barcelona B or Celta Vigo B are nowhere near as great as the mighty city!!
9.
Forgive me for not dancing on the ceiling.....but why are we getting excited about two European lower league rejects signing? Let''s get some perspective here!   I''m all for giving them a chance but Alan Lee and Jason Shackell they ain''t.
True, they''re not but who''s to say they aren''t better? Shackell is a good player IMO but there were a number of people who didn''t rate him the first time round. Likewis, I like Alan Lee but again he''s the wrong side of thirty now and he wasn''t exactly scoring for fun when he was with us was he. Maric and Askou are certainly unknown quantities but I was impressed with the latter on Saturday. Thought he was our best centre half on show and had a very good game. I know it''s only one game but why do we always write players off before we get them? Lets wait and see shall we...
 10. Yes, certainly looked impressive on Saturday and reports would lead you to believe he has been consistent during the Scottish tour.
 11. A good player on his day but at his age with the serious injury he has just had and the money he must be on I wouldn''t be too worried if he went. He''s not going to be fit for the start of the season is he? Askou looks solid at the back and able to distribute the ball, I''d personally like to see some of Stefanovic''s money spent on him!
 12. Mine would be (assuming Maric and Askou sign)... 1st Team                         Theoklitos Spillane      Doherty      Nelson   Wiggins Whaley   Tudor Jones   Hughes   Hoolahan                      Holt      Maric Ressies                         Alnwick Otsemobor   Askou   Stefanovic   Drury Mcveigh         Gill      Pattison      Lappin                      Mcdonald   Martin   Young pros to be eased in: Rudd Steer Dumic Stephens Smith Adeyemi Daley I think Cureton and Stefanovic may go, which wouldn''t worry me too much, as wages would be freed up and some of the youngsters would be a little closer to the first team. Great competition as far as I am concerned with adequate cover in all positions. Both teams above capable of doing well in League 1 IMO. A decent squad coming together with youth players to push on and challenge. The futures bright, the futures YELLOW (sorry)
 13. These threads are getting so boring. Please don''t call me a ''sheep'' or a board worshipper as I, like others here, have shown my disaproval in the past few seasons but lets give the current set up a chance before we write them off! What have they done wrong at this stage? Lets give them a chance. By all means slag them off on Aug 8th when we partner Cureton and Martin up front but that''s a little way off yet and things are certainly happening that you can not possibly be aware of sitting behind your keybords. I believe the press, the rumours, the management''s comments that things are certainly going on. We are being linked with good players and I have no reason to disbelieve that we are talking to people and trying to make deals happen.  We need to accept that we don''t have millions to spend though, if we pay £600,000 for Alan Lee that''s the majority of our budget gone. How do we sign two good wingers and another Striker with what''s left?? Simple: we don''t! Bids are in, players will arrive but we need to be patient and negotiate the best possible prices. That''s happening in the press with Warnock at Palace with Pearson at Derby. We just need to ride it out and if we do miss out then so be it but we haven''t wasted our whole budget on one player to the detriment of the rest of the summer rebuilding. Perhaps we are also waiting for Clingan/Russell to talk to clubs and agree terms before freeing up further funds. We wanted contracted players and that''s what we are getting...just be patient! Feel free to remind me of this thread on Aug 8th and I will jump on your bandwagon should we have no further signings but I don''t think it will be the case!!
 14.
I hope this deal still goes through with Neilson impressing today, i''d have Whaley over Neilson anyday! I went to Fakenham and Neilson was VERY poor!
Yeah good one!
 15.
Remember the last time we looked at a player via You Tube? Not that good in the end.
The guys technique reminds me a little of Ashton but as CiB rightly points out, remember last time? Dave ''one goal'' the Striker looked good on You Tube!
 16.

Think about it..... we sell him and we go up as Champions to the Premier League, he returns and we get relegated to the 3rd Division  !
Stoke sell him to us... they go up too. Bye bye Darel!
There is definitely a pattern here! I always thought he looked a ''busy'' player but like a couple of posters above mention he never really had an end product. There was no killer pass or goal to cap of the work he appeared to be doing. Basically I think he just ran about a bit.
 17. Also struggling to get my head around this rumour. Thought he was a first team regular at Cardiff and a very good player at that who would surely attract interest from te Championship if out of favour! Maybe Cardiff are offering him as part exchange for Clingan but he still needs to agree terms with us. Which I would find highly unlikely! Fingers crossed though I guess, I did mention a couple of weeks back that we were in for Mark Yeates who I also felt was out of our reach so maybe just maybe...
 18. It''s in the title really. I think Gunn has brought in some good players so far. Admittedly we still need a striker or two and a right winger but I am happy that we have a squad we can call ours and not made up of other teams players. It seems we have players that can do well in this league too and most importantly want to do well and do well for NCFC!
 19.
Doc is our best central defender.  He gives 100%, never shirks a 50-50 challenge and more often than not is in the right place to clear our lines when our full backs and midfield have once again gone AWOL.  He was good last year, he will be good this year, and anyone who thinks he''s a waste of time either doesn''t watch Norwich City play on a regular basis or expects every Championship (and League One) centre back to play like Rio Ferdinand.   I could list several players who "cost" us more points last year than Doc... Otsemobor Kennedy Russell Marshall Cureton To name but 5.
I can only agree with this. In the early days I was not Doc''s no.1 fan but he has been solid for the past couple of seasons and I don''t think we would get much better at our level now! I didn''t start this thread as a ''lets batter the Doc'' thread I was merely passing on what I had read. I am extremely surprised at the attitude of many ''Norwich fans'' who just want to slag off our players. I was not Fozzy''s biggest fan or Hughes previous to that but in the last few days all I have read is negative comments about Doc, Otsemobor, Drury, Cureton, Russell and Holahan. Wake up guys, we are where we are and although I don''t think we should accept second rate players or accept second best we are not going to get much better than some of these players. When do we start to support the team?!
 20. Do they want all of our players? Are they going for a bottom three finish next year? I personally find this one hard to believe... http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1508
 21. I don''t think it will be long. I posted a thread recently about a number of deals going through last week: Lee, Dickinson, Doyle and rumours of Mark Yeates coming in. Hoolahan, Clingan and Pattison moving on. These deals obviously haven''t gone through yet and we missed out on Yeates but I understand from my mate that the deals are still progressing with a lot depending on the Clingan deal going through. This is taking time at the moment with NCFC trying to get the best possible price. Wade Small was shown around Colney towards the end of last week and is due to sign subject to a satisfactory medical, which will be thorough due to his past injury problems. Jason Shackell is also interested in a season long loan deal which NCFC have been discussing with Wolves.
 22.
The Yeates one suprised me too. The rest is pretty much as expected and I don''t think you need to work at the club to know that the majority of them deals will probably go through. Again suprised that we would be in for Lee and Dickinson but maybe another will be going out...a Cureton maybe? I don''t know a lot about Yeates but he certainly seems to have performed well in League 1 over the past couple of seasons and a Championship move wouldn''t surprise me. That''s not to say we aren''t in for him though if we have some Clingan cahs to spend?
Interesting to read Cureton''s comments in today''s EDP. Perhaps we are about to sign both Lee and Dickinson...
 23.
What position does this Yeates fella play then?
He looks like quite a handy winger. Something I guess we need with Croft gone and Hoolihan looking like he''s going the same way. Don''t know a lot about him but he seems to have a pretty good goalscoring record in the last couple of seasons at League 1 level. http://www.cu-fc.com/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10424~23755,00.html
 24.
Love Hoolahan to stay but if he does not want to play L1 football what''s the point of trying to keep him?
This is true.
