  1. Just a few ingredients to throw into the stew really. I can tell you now that as long as we finish in the top half Worthington will stay. How do I know this? I suggest you go and read the Canary Preview. Basically Wyn-Jones states in that that he doesn''t believe that a manager can''t be at his best untill after at least two or three seasons and the man has a point. He works it out like this; 1st season he works with the squad he inherits, second season he re-moulds the sqd to his liking and at least starts to get the players he wants into the team, the third season he strengthens the squad and gets them to gell and play together and get to know each other well. And for the information, this is the third season Worthington has started with the club, I think its a little unfair to class the half a season as caretaker manager gifted with the task of avoiding relegation he had to start with, that was the task he had to complete before anything he wanted to do with the team could be done. Plus we have had two good full season under him, one average season may not be enough to see him go and I for one would be happy with that. I can''t see where he has gone incredibly wrong. So far this season things are going as you would expect and perhaps hope for, we drew with a Bradford side that didnt give up at all even at 2-0 down, we were away and it was the first game of the season. We beat Rotherham, and we lost away to Shfd Untd. I would love for someone to argue any of these results! Sure I would love us to beat these teams and a desperately want to but all in all when you look at where they were last season you have to consider that so far only the Bradford result was shameful and like a commentator said on Sky the other day, the first game of the season could go either way simply because it depends who has got the most out of pre-season, only judge things after the first three games as the players have started to settle into the rhythm again by then. And losing 1-0 to a quality team is nought, they are after all one of the favourites for automatic promotion, especially seeing that all the other "big" teams haven''t got their act together yet.
  2. I reckon that we will miss him as he was easily one of the top three strikers at the club not including Elvis. I would like to see Abbey given the chance to prove he is worth a new contract at the end of the season. I remember seeing him when he first came here and remember that he showed real potential, then he got injured. Lets face it, he scored more golas than Nielsen last term and in less games and starts. I think it is time that we gave one or two players a chance to prove themselves. Abbey and Notman in my eyes. If Notman is comfortable in midfield as well then perhaps it would be worth keeping him for cover but he has never lived up to the reputation he had when he came. And lets face it, it was a very similar one to Elvis. He was a high scoring reserve team striker who was offered to us after we couldnt afford Heally for £1million. If neither of these two can prove that they are a real goalscoring propersition then I would let Henderson and Jarvis have a shot at it, they may as well get experienced if there is the oppertunity. I think Worthington has done incredibly well when you think about it, he has strengthened the midfield which has been quite honestly useless in the years after relegation with the exception of Niel Adams ofcourse. Especially after watching the likes of De Waard, Carey, Forbes, Grant, and the countless number of loanees in Brady, Paul Hughes, Des Hamilton. And ofcourse the defence. To stay up we had to tighten up which now we are, its just been unlucky that none of the strikers we have been interested in have been interested in us.
  3. Fair game! I dont think that we have negative tactics mind, but I think we may concentrate on defending a little too much, perhaps like the Italians, apart from more than often thier back four can string more than two passes together along the floor inside 90 minutes! The team has proven time and time again that we can beat all of the teams or at least give them a good match when we actually "play" the ball more. Like Portsmouth at the end of last season. I think that having Fancis as well as Holt is a major boost as our midfield is now giving a hell of a lot more resistance allowing the defence to push up that little bit more. Still 4 goals in 2 games is great and I think that so far it has been good, especially with other results also, Ip*&^%, Wigan, WBA and the list goes on. Anyway I would say yes Christmas is a good assessment point, but what will really brake the mold is if we go out there and blow away the traditional blues. Lastly we dont need another central midfielder, we need cover for the right (Rivers) and at least one centreback. We already have Mulryne, Holt, Francis, Sinclair and then ofcourse Easton can play there and probably McVeigh if we got really stuck.
  4. I disagree with you on a couple of things. What attracts players to a club is the financial and league status coupled with good fascilities. When you look at the teams we have lost out to in the transfer market this summer a pattern arises. West Ham, West Brom etc all have a stable ship at the moment that can handle another couple of tons (reletively expensive players wages wise) where as we were going out of our way to create the cash to bring one in. That means that the player in question is also the most likely to be sold on if a cash crisis should happen, or perhaps if the money situation in the league gets tighter. Also I believe that Delia and co aren''t adversed to having another investor involved in the club, I seem to remember an interview with her on the subject of the new Proton sponsorship. She said that all the British officials etc had visited the club and that of course it was a brilliant deal for us. She also mentioned that the next thing she would like to happen is for the Proton owner, yes the fellow who gets all the dosh from Lotus etc, to come and watch a game. Now why would that be do you think? Also they may be a bit weary of outsiders because although Delia and Wyn-Jones aren''t the multi-billionairs of Chelski or the massively-millionaire of Hammam or Manderich etc they do have their heart in the right place. Hammam has jumped ship already, then you have Jordon at Palace who is over possesive in his role. The list goes on. I would much rather have the right people with less money than the wrong people with all the money in the world. Just think of that warlord-loving Italian bloke that tried to take us over a few years back!
  5. Sorry people!!! I was away at the V festival in Chelmsford!! I got the score through a very friendly fellow Norwich fan, who I''d like to thank emensly. I have only ofcourse read the reports on this match which is unfortunately all I will be doing for most of this season as I will be at uni!! Anyways the dont seem to be able to make up their mind as to why we won the match. Basically they have it down to us being inredibly good, or us looking incredibly good but actually being average and Rotherham poor or that the mess the ref stirred up unsettled them and we took advantage! Not that I particularily care as we won!! And Rivers and Easton again! As soon as Easton gets some quality competition he starts to up the effort! Rivers just seems to come on leaps and bounds with each match. Were they good all match or was it a case of two inspirational but one-off ocasions? P.S; Where are those moaners now?
  6. Rich what do you mean? I thought you were one of the people criticising Worthington for not being harsh enough in post match interviews!!!
