  1. I''m investing () in a 2-1 win - Saturday could well be the turning point
  2. Yay! I agree with almost everything in your last post Zipper - the bit I don''t is fairly obvious ( I think we should invest come January), but what the hell
  3. Zipper - I would agree completely with you about giving the boys total support on Saturday - I would never not give what ever team we put out my support However, I reserve the right to have an opinion about how they played - and it will not always be complimentary
  4. I can''t say I have been aware of too many posters "slagging" off our players - just pointing out that they are not doing the business and they look unlikley/ unable to do the business. That being so, those of us on the "darkside" believe that the Club should invest come the January sales. Comparisons with MU, or any other Club, serve no purpose in that particular debate. We either invest to improve our chances of staying up, or we don''t. Some of us believe that a lack of investment would be detrimental to the Club.
  5. If I was sitting at Old Trafford with 67,000 other fans I guess I would be looking forward to challenging for the title, to challenging for our domestic cups, and to a continued run in Europe. As it is, I sit amongst 23,000 fans at Carrow Road, we are equal bottom in the league with our worst ever start in the top league, out of the Carling Cup, and not in Europe. I don''t understand the comparison
  6. Berks Canary is on the spot.  We all knew what Coops was capable of and in truth we have not really replaced him.  It does make you wonder how the transfer market works, doesn''t it?
  7. Gazza - I do remember last year and the influence that the fans brought to bear. I also remember other occasions in the past when the fans have had a major inluence - from "Chase Out" to the fans raisingg the money to buy Gerry Howshall (who unfortunately was not the best signing ever :rolleyes As fas as I am concerned longevity only belongs to the fans. No matter whose names are on the shares the Club "belongs" to the fans - no fans, no Club. However, I don''t think that opinions posted on this forum have too much of an influence on the decision making process at Carrow Road - the more''s the pity - otherwise it would be enough money for a new striker come January
  8. Yet another match that tells it''s own story - the win was there for the taking if we had quality up front Of our present squad I think that Matty and Leon are probably the best two "strikers".  However, Matty doesn''t really look like scoring, does he? Leon has commitment, he also gets into goal scoring opportunities but he is very niave at this level. Once again he tripped over his own feet last night when scoring would have been easier Hopefully the coaching staff will teach him about offside - to be caught 8 or 9 times in a single match is a bit much.  Nevertheless these are the two we need to stick with right now - and I truly hope that they do come through
  9. I am thinking of changing camps from the "realists" to the "star gazers" On that basis it is easy to see why Jonsson is potentially the most expensive player in our history. His pace is awesome; his tackling fearsome; his passing immaculate; his workrate stupendous; his stamina outstanding and his eye for goal inspiring Quite east to see why he took home over £70k net last month (fact)
  10. To those of us that think we should invest in January in order to give us the best possible chance of staying up the issue is fairly clear.  An investment of say £5m could help us stay in a division where the income is £30m (?) plus a season. Not investing could lead us to being relegated into a division where we very nearly went bankrupt just a couple of years ago. Invest £5m for a £30m return - makes sense to me. Anyway, most peoples'' postings (including mine) are only supposition and opinion and I don''t think for one minute that the Board will be influenced one way or the other by this forum
  11. Hurrah!! The one across the sea will make no more posts on this thread However, his last post, as ever, was inaccurate - according to the deluded one, Doherty started against Everton - I always knew he was on a different planet
  12. Good for you, Mr Carrow - you have merely put into a post what many fans are feeling right now The fact that we do question what has been going on does not make us any less loyal supporters, indeed I would hazard a guess that many of us are the longer term supporters, and ones that have invested in the Club in more ways than one. As for the people who claim that it isn''t too bad because we could have won some of our matches so far, the fact is we didn''t   We are bottom, and are rapidly losing touch with the immediate group above us. As for players who we might / ought to sign, why do they have to be named?  Did anyone come up withe names of Ward, Gallacher, Helvig, Charlton, Safri, Doherty, Jonson before they were signed?  Nope -don''t think so There are many, many players who are either fringe players at Premiership Clubs, or playing in other leagues both in this country, and abroad, who could help solve our two most pressing problems - being "creative" in midfield, and putting the ball in the back of the net. Rest assured that other Clubs will strengthen their squads come January - the big question is, will we?
  13. If Hendo was played in a central role, as he does for the reserves and Under England 20, wouldn''t he come before Jarvis?
  14. I am totally with Canary Boy, GG, Suzie b etc The way that Malky was forced out was disgraceful.  Further, I also believe that if he had played from game 1 he would have been a valuable member of the squad. As it is, we will never know - mores the pity
  15. Well, well, well - a united response against a pointless post from the man cross the sea Having been on the end of some equally pointless posts from YC it is gratifying to see other people question his motivation - I have suggested in the past that he seeks counselling to help him with his obvious state of resentment and poor self image It is a truism that " the past doesn''t equal the future" - unless of course you live there, as YC clearly does as evidenced by his utterly pointless post
  16. At the risk of attracting the vitriolic flamers I agree that it does seem to be another example of Mr W managing by personality rather than by principle.  Sure, Flem has been consistent over the past few seasons and he has done well this season.  As to how he will be able to cut it over the next 2 or 3 seasons - that''s a big question. If we are "rewarding" Flem for his loyalty to the Club then why wasn''t the same courtesy extended to, for example, Iwan and Malky? I spent some time on Friday with someone quite senior within Carrow Road and the whole thing about Malky came up again - you have to ask the question why he was frozen out when he returned from the break - ( and he WAS frozen out, and he still doesn''t know why) - and in a time when our finances are supposedly in a perilous state we offer what only be an "emotion driven" contract to Flem? Weird
  17. At the end of the day  we should not lose sight of the fact that we have made our worst start ever in the top league - we are in the cack To get out of the cack we need to find someone to score goals - that costs money, so we need to spend some money. Simple really, isn''t it
  18. A.Y., I think most people accept that Greeno is off in January, or at the end of the season.  Why would Mr W have bought 2 goalkeepers if that wasn''t the case?
  19. It really is time for the members of the "Rose Coloured Spectacle" Club to accept that we need to improve our strike force and probably our midfield.  I can''t say I was overcome with confidence on Saturday with the thought that Safri could come off the bench and swing the match in our favour  From a financial point of view the only place to be is in the Premiership.  Relegation could well put us back another 10 years from which we may never recover. Now is the time for the Board to ensure that we can invest in January to give us a realistic chance of staying up coz the present squad is too weak in too many areas to keep us up.  "Team Spirit" and "Fighting Spirit" will evaporate as the realisation dawns that we are not strong enough at the moment to compete. If we do not get some quality in I fear the worse
  20. I almost feel sorry for you Yankee regarding the post about myself and ducks.....thankfully it''s only almost though You see, as ever, you have totally missed the point - the duck is a decoy duck and you fell for it
  21. I almost forget about one of our most forgettable players - Gerry Howshall
  22. Tut, tut, Yankee, there you go again rattling on about the past - I think that is where your resentment comes from.  A dangerous thing resentment, it can eat you away - you must be very slim by now And you haven''t understood any of my "insults" - never mind, I am sure you will fire off another meaningless diatribe. Personally, I have better things to do - in the real world
  23. Having said all the horrible things about Wolves I still think the best banner I have seen was the one at the second leg of the semi-final - "You''ve let us down again" -there it was, held aloft by a couple of proud Wolves fans, says it all really doesn''t it - crappy Club, crappy players, crappy fans
  24. I''m right in there with the "give Leon an extended run" camp. Without doubt he has "missed" with a few chances but he has the all too rare ability to actually be in the right place to at least create a chance. That is a skill that can''t be taught, great strikers have all had that ability and Leon has it. Stick with him and he could well come through.
