Bill 1,788 Posted September 19, 2014 not always what it seems

Ricardo,55:45 it was when all the votes were counted.Of course that ratio refers to the yes/no votes only. The Scottish Govt''s figure for residents 16 & over is 4.4million so the overall breakdown is:3% didn''t register to vote;15% registered voters didn''t vote37% voted YES45% voted No.So:(a) it was just over a third actively wanting independence; and (b) it''s surprising how much fuss under 3% of the adult UK population can cause.
I had to laugh when they said several hundred people had been disqualified because they voted for both yes and no.[:D]
not necessarily what it seemsif a mark is on more than one selection then usually the vote will often be disqualifieddisputed votes are often often offered to candidates to decide which was the true intention, however given the closeness I doubt if many would not have simplt been deemed ''spoilt - if that was the option hereI would doubt many were a result of folk not understanding the process
Gainer the Gopher 0 Posted September 20, 2014 So:(a) it was just over a third actively wanting independence; and (b) it''s surprising how much fuss under 3% of the adult UK population can cause. - woostercanaryTrue, but all that matters is how the vote counts turned out. You could be all for indeprndence and promoting it with yard signs and by campaigning, but if you didn''t go to the polls to vote, your opinion is meaningless.
