Yorkshire Canary 118 Posted September 14, 2013 Not a good day at the office, but a 2 nil loss against a very strong outfit is hardly an unmitigated disaster. The squad is still settling down and a couple of players also need to find a bit of form. 2 defeats away from home and 4 pts from 2 home games beats the 3pts from 7 games start last season. All the Hughton outers need to wake up and smell the coffea, the board are not going to sack a guy they have just given £25m to spend and who for the most part has done pretty well with his signings. We will have better days but our fate relegation mix or lower mid table will be settled on our home games and how we do against the bottom half sides not the top 6. Last season we were spoilt by good results against many of the top clubs, they come along infrequently by and large and we would be fools to expect them too often. The Villa game is an important one, but remember we lost it last season so an improvement on that even a draw would be fine. There are already signs that a number of clubs are going to have difficult seasons and hopefully we will be a lot better than a few of them
FCC 94 Posted September 14, 2013 It could be said that the unexpected good results against top teams kept us up. We didn''t do well at Hull so we need to do better against the non-top teams if we aren''t going to be in a relegation scrap.
It's Character Forming 1,204 Posted September 14, 2013 Well I agree there are plenty over-reacting on here as usual after a defeat. What bothers me for both this game and Hull is that we seem to be trying to play a style which doesn''t suit our players away from home especially RVW.Looking back at last season having been to 17 away games the worst were Fulham, Liverpool and Wigan in that those were the games when we really didn''t seem to be set up in a way that would ever be likely to get anything from the game, unfortunately today''s performance falls into the same category.
