Family enclosure hardly any Children anymore

Recommended Posts

The downside of having over 20 000 season ticket holders is that there is very little turnover of  fans. I started taking my kids in the family enclosure when they each reached the age of 10 and at one point there was me and 3 children. The eldest is nearly 30 now any we still sit in the same place surrounded by people we have sat with for years which is quite nice. In the early days i would say half this area was made up of children getting to see their heros. Now children are in short supply as they have all grown older  and stayed with their season tickets.whilst inevitable it is also a shame as the capacity isues mean that young kids are prevented from growing up supporting their club. Spot the difference though on cup days when the kids and their parents come out in force

I think I,m a classic example of what happened to the missing children.Yrs ago I used to go with my dad in the riverend, I used to support Liverpool (as they used to win everything in the 70''s) but became a Norwich fanas they were the team I went to see, when I was old enough (16 plus) I used to go with mates then when I was older I purchased a season ticket and became a season ticket holder for yrs. Then my own children were born I managed to keep going for a few more yrs then due to affordability I had to let my ticket go, now my children are old enough to go with me I want to take then but the casual tickets are £40- 45 aldults and approx £ 30 for them, so to go as a casual it would cost approx £100 so we don''t go.So my children don''t get to support Norwich as they have no interest watching them on a pc they need to go to gain the interest and excitement. Then V Luton it was £10 for an adult and £1 each so we all went, the next opportunity we have is Everton but it''s £100 plus and can''t sit all together so for 2 reasons we don''t go.Shame really as a generation of future supporters are mainly being missed, this will come home to roost if we get relegated and stay in the championship for 2plu yrs as supporters will dwindle, I can''t blame the club in isolation, it''s the football model I can''t stand overpaid footballers , agents creaming it etc etc  Football in the stands can be cheaper and needs to be for football to stay healthy.

Unfortunately not, as the club knows and your evidence proves. When the tickets are available and the price is what you consider justifiable you go (Luton). The same will happen if we drop down a division. The price will drop as needed and the grond will be filled  up quite easily.

The club knows this and responds accordingly.

The really sad thing for many is that a fair number of who were originally known as ''happy clappies'' who were there for the ''experience'' have taken over from those who would be there through footballing interests. Many others have simply fell away because of what you rightly refer to as ''the football model''.

There is no need as far as the club is concerned for tickets to get cheaper, at this moment as the evidence shows. The best many of us can say is it ain''t what it was and on my part I''m glad I enjoyed the good times of past years, when it was all about football, not hype.

[/quote]fair comment agree with what you say.must admit the atmosphere was far far better in the past than what it is now, I don''t really miss going nowadays, just feel it''s a missed opportunity to get my children involved. They don''t miss out as any available money I have is spent on taking them out to other things to enjoy.

i''m not too sure if there is the opportunity given the ground is sold out most games/

What is lost is for kids who are genuinely interested in football and not necessarily the hype are missing out. It is vomit making to listen to much of the ill informed twaddle of many of the ''happy clappies'' who up to a few seasons ago barely knew where Carrow Road was and are more interested in knowing when they are supposed to stand up, sit down, cheer, sit for another minutes silence and what the latest ''in words'' are.

The danger is when the hype goes how far will ticket prices have to drop to get football fans back ?
