Whatever happened to David Fox?

Recommended Posts

One sub appearance in the Premiership is all David Fox has managed this season. Last year he came 3rd in POTS.

Comfortable on the ball, sets the tempo of the play, gets the ball into the right areas quickly. A poor man''s Michael Carrick. Given our glacial build up play of late, surely Fox is worth a shot?

I don''t get some of the hype around Fox, yes he can play a great ball and control the tempo if he plays well, but he is often found wanting defensively.

Having said that Hughton needs to change things up and Fox is one option, though I''d prefer to to drop Johnson in favour of another striker.

Poor managers get bloody minded about some players, we''ve seen it before.

Hughton gets more and more like Roeder.

Hughton has burned out a number of his players and underplayed a number of others to the detriment of their confidence and game.

This is Lappin MkII.

I don''t think David Fox is the saviour, but after 23 Premiership games I would have thought he would be have had more than one sub appearance to his name.

Fox is one of those players who is very difficult to judge on stats alone. He doesn''t doesn''t score many goals, and looks a bit lightweight. Having said that, he was the most accurate crosser of the ball in the Premiership last season. And is the best passer of the ball at the football club.

Fair enough, I think if Hughton actually believed in substitutes then he may well have made a couple more appearances.

As I said it needs changing and Fox is certainly an option - though the way some people talk about him on here/twitter do make him out as an obvious saviour which I just personally don''t see.

I think it needs to be noted that he has been injured (got injured in pre-season) for a long period this season so his fitness hasn''t necessarily been there to be brought into the team
