Yes it''s fine to take kids to the Cherry Tree.

Most of the pubs near the ground are friendly enough - I would probably just avoid the Peacock.

Between the bus station and John Lewis on Westgate( the other is the Botolph Arms on Oundle Rd but that''s a good mile from the ground ) Diagonally opposite is the great Brewery Tap, a converted 1930''s labour exchange building, which brews it''s own Oakham Ales on site. Does Thai food.
