The futures bright......

......the futures Norwich.

With the Bennet''s, Butterfield, Pilks and Howson.....it seems we are looking really good for the coming years. It fills me with optimism that we are building a quality young, British based team. I guess my only concern is....should said players fulfill expected potential, can a team like us ever really hope to fend off the ''bigger'' clubs and stop them leaving? And if this proves to be the case, will we ever be more than a lower to mid-table Premier League side? I have mixed feelings. Where on one hand i would be happy just surviving year in year out, on the other i want MORE!

We must continue to be ambitious, striving for better and achieving better, then those players won''t necessarily be interested in a move. It''s hard nowadays with the money that is involved. Not only is sound judgement and management needed, but some form of investment to keep the club from falling behind it''s counterparts. Of course, I can see us getting into a decent top half position with just the fore mentioned and no major investment, it''s all just a case of doing things right.I completely agree with the statement about our players - the management of the club sees us with some bright young talents that can only get better. We should push on with this, be ambitious and who knows what will happen, lets just enjoy it whilst its here, however long that may be.

Thanks to PL and McNally and now CH we have some really great player assets. Compare the quality of players to what we actually owned last time in the EPL and you see what an impressive all round job has been done.

Not entirely sure about that Rudolph, for two reasons. Firstly, even allowing for transfer inflation in the intervening period, the amount of money available to us now is significantly greater than it was then. The £3m or so we supposedly should have spent on Ashton that summer (even assuming we could somehow have cobbled it together) would have been an enormous sum proportionately. Worthington said a while back that we should have spent an extra £10m to try to stay up. Quite where he thought an extra £10m was coming from I have no idea, unless he wanted Smith and Jones to rob a bank.

Secondly, you are comparing the team we had coming up from the second tier, with half a dozen additions bought with the lesser amount available then, to a squad funded by the greater amount available now that has survived into a second year in the Pl and  is already being strengthened from a second dollop of mega-money.
