priceyrice 133 Posted April 28, 2012 I know this topic comes up a fair bit, but having just watched the spamers game i had to start it up again. This guy is pure class, he picks that inch perfect pass so often. I haven''t really followed his progress this season but he didn''t half take charge of the game today.I really think he will add something to our team, we don''t really have someone who finds that inch perfect through ball for the forwards to slot home, would be excited to see him and howson line up together in the middle of the park. I think we have sometimes lacked that directness needed at points this season, allowing for the defence to get back into position, with Lansbury in the team we have someone who can allow us to be a bit more direct, rather than neat, short passing, build up play most of the time.Add the fact that he really seemed to love it at carrow rd last season and having played here as a junior, surely if we want him we could get him this summer fairly cheap. I''m not sure what the situation is with his contract, i remember last summer Wenger wanted him to sign another contract or leave, as he only had one year left, think he was holding out for more first team football before signing a contract. In all honesty he is not going to get it at Arsenal; Ramsay, Wilshire (if he ever plays), Arteta, Song, Diaby, Rosicky and whoever they sign this summer will be ahead of him.Sort of hoping West Ham don''t get promoted, giving us a better option to sign Lansbury if Lambert wants him, plus they have a few other good players in that team, perhaps on wages which are a bit too high for us. GJP 79 Posted April 28, 2012
This guy is pure class, he picks that inch perfect pass so often.
On the contrary, I''d say that too often his passes don''t come off. That was the problem here last season, for every one great ball he did play there were far more that simply gave the ball away cheaply. That, in my opinion, was why he never cemented himself in as a first choice player last season for us and why he hasn''t really done so this season at West Ham. He gives the ball away a little bit more than he should, whether it''s through getting caught in possession or trying a pass that just isn''t really on. He is still a good player but if you look at the likes of Fox, Hoolahan and Surman they are all better at keeping the ball and finding a yellow shirt with it. norfolkbroadslim 225 Posted April 28, 2012 Struggled to make the starting 11 at West Ham this season. Not sure West Ham would want him even if they go up. Not sure whether Lambert would want him as he would probably have tried before the start of the season to get him. If Lambert did want him, then I have every confidence that he could get the best out of him. There are probably others out there who would add more and go straight into the side next season. It will be interesting to see what if anything happens with Pilks over the summer as to me he has the ability and the goals to be starting most of the time and he hasn''t. I would love Hoilett, but it would never happen.
That''s interesting to hear he hasn''t started that much this season, same issue he had when with us then i guess.I agree he does tend to lose the ball more than our current midfield players (perhaps with the exception of Wes) but that''s because he is trying more of those killer balls, which we have lacked this year, that''s why i would like to see him come. He''s still young and has a lot of potential, i think he would be a solid signing, but perhaps your right, he wouldn''t walk into the starting 11, but with out budget that''s gonna be hard to find. Hoilett is a class player, i''m afraid he wont be coming to us though, bigger clubs will come calling, perhaps even abroad, if the rumours are to be believed. I agree about Pilks, i wonder if one of the reasons behind his lack of game time could be fitness issues, it is his first season back after a broken leg. I think he is the most gifted player in our side, and works hard, but can has gone missing on the odd occassion when we are struggling for possession.
