mj 0 Posted December 21, 2011 Might be just me, but I didnt actually think the game was that good last night? Only a few half chances other than the goals, and the atmosphere was shocking up until the last ten. Having no roof didnt help us to get our atmosphere going either, but I always expect that when we get the Steve Bull.Happy with a point, but just didnt think the game was that good, not much quality on display. Jacko 0 Posted December 21, 2011 I thought it was fantastic entertainment. It was a really old school game of football. Usually most sides in the division are cagey and employ a 4-2-3-1 or some variant. But you had two sides who chucked the game wide open by playing 2 up front and went hammer and tong for each other. There was a total of 36 shots at goal from both sides yesterday which illustrates just how open it was. There were penalty appeals, shocking misses, good saves and a bit of controversy (from Morison) to boot. These games are often more entertaining than when you play the established top 6 because they are evenly matched and end to end. Rather than just being camped in your own half and hoping you can steal something.
Gingerpele 0 Posted December 21, 2011 Few half chances? What game were you watching?Surman and Morison both had great chances saved, Wolves missed an easy chance (Hunt), we had other decent chances, Ruddy I believe made another pretty good save in first half. Wolves could have easily scored 2 more after there goal, and had an offside goal. We had more chances through Holt, Jackson, Hoolahan and Fox in the second half.It was a great attacking game, both teams really went for it. Defences weren''t particularly solid, which tends to make the games a better spectacle.
PurpleCanary 6,386 Posted December 21, 2011 I don''t like watching streams anyway, but I gave up after 25 minutes. It was like a basketball match, and I can''t stand basketball. End to end, with loads of incidents, to be sure, but the skill factor was low. Neither side ever seemed to have any control. It was typically English, and that''s not a compliment...[;)][:D][;)]
Gingerpele 0 Posted December 21, 2011 Purple, the first 25 mins, it wasn''t that end to end. Wolves had a few attacks, but were pretty poor and always giving the ball away. They had one good chance before there goal, can''t even remember if they had any others. We played brilliantly for the first half an hour.
Aggy 944 Posted December 21, 2011 It was certainly open and entertaining, even if it wasn''t quite Barcelona-esque at times! As for the atmosphere from our fans - I think when you get packed together, or are on the tier above as well, it makes for a better atmosphere as you''re all concentrated, so chants catch on etc. When you''re spread out across one tier but all the length of the pitch as we were last night, it''s harder to get chants going simultaneously. At times we sort of heard OTBC coming from down the other end, but it had fizzled out before we were able to join in, so you ended up with two half hearted versions instead of one big one. Also not a fan of having home support above you. I don''t think there were any incidents last night, but I''ve been to a coupleof games where objects have been thrown down from "enthusiastic" home supporters. Boyo 0 Posted December 21, 2011 It was a great game for the neutral but when you support one of the two teams it is very fustrating! And what was that about having no roof!? If we didn''t have a roof we would have got very wet! And I think the fact we were very spread out didn''t help the atmosphere. We had people one side starting chants but the other side didn''t really catch onto it so it was always going to be hard to get all the fans singing as one. My 25 minutes was from seconds after we scored (Sod''s Law!) until close to half-time, which included one bout of head-tennis that had me shouting[:@] at my computer screen! I said on another thread that I am of the "possession is pretty much everything" persuasion, and last night neither side seemed to agree with me on that...[:D]
Gingerpele 0 Posted December 21, 2011 Ahh yeah, I suppose we were probably more dominant before the goal. And I remember the head tennis, I personally enjoyed it, thought it could have gone on for a bit longer though :P
